Bowser, age 4. When he first came to us, he was clearly uncomfortable - he stood with a hunched posture and held his tail low and tucked. Although he remained his usual happy, wiggly self, he was unable to wag his tail or sit comfortably when asked.😣

During our examination, we found that the muscles at the base of his tail were tender and inflamed. Based on these findings, we identified his issue as Swimmer’s Tail - a condition that causes sudden pain and swelling at the base of a dog’s tail.

His treatment included gentle chiropractic adjustments to his sacrum, lumbar spine, and pelvis, along with targeted soft tissue therapy and laser therapy to the affected area.☕️✅✅✅

We’re happy to report that after just one treatment, Bowser’s signature wag returned, and he’s back to feeling like himself again!

Let’s hear it for Bowser!🎉🙌👏🐕🐕

Houston and Skye are 16, and 15, both have severe arthritis, and both have amazing mobility for their age.😲🙌

So what’s their secret?!

* Regular chiropractic adjustments
* Regular swim therapy at Paws Swim Therapy
* Quality daily walks
* Quality diet and supplements

If you have an old dog, they have arthritis. Period. It’s a predictable and natural process. Some older dogs have it more than others, but ALL dogs experience it.

What’s important to understand is that arthritis alone is not an excuse for slow mobility decline, it’s actually the CHOICES we make that truly determine the quality of life our senior pets experience, which can often be the best and happiest years of their lives.

So next time you hear your dog’s mobility issues are due to arthritis, remind yourself of Houston and Skye. They don’t accept that excuse.😉🐶

Isla, age 6.5 is sporting her custom knee kinesiotape for her recent CCL injury.

At we regularly see dogs with hind leg lameness due to knee issues. Some are related to the knee-cap itself, others are related to the CCL (cruciate ligament), but in ALL cases the injury is due to knee joint instability and muscle imbalance.

As we’ve seen with hundreds of dogs over the years, many knee injuries functionally recover without surgery, requiring only chiropractic adjustments, laser therapy, custom support tape, and rehabilitation exercises.✅✅✅✅

The adjustments help improve body symmetry and reduce compensation, the laser helps to promote healing, the tape offers external stability to ease the burden on the injured ligaments, and the exercises help regain muscular stability.✅✅✅✅

To determine if we can help your dog recover naturally, book their assessment today!

Hunter, age 7. When we met him he was partially paralyzed in his hind legs after suffering an acute IVDD episode😣

All too often - dogs like Hunter can end up going the surgical route, but thankfully his owner wanted to explore the most effective natural methods to healing his spine and luckily found us in the process🙌

Upon examination we discovered inflammation and vertebral joint rotation at L3-4, with associated muscle guarding and absent reflexes to Hunter’s hind legs🤕

We recommended a short trial of chiropractic and laser visits - in the hopes that if we regained the function of the misplaced vertebra, the disc material would heal on its own🤞🏻❤️‍🩹

We are delighted to report that Hunter started showing significant improvement after his very first adjustment!💯 After a few more, his hind leg reflexes were back on line again and the strength and coordination qu**ky returned to his hind legs👏🙌

Let’s hear it for Hunter!!🎉😄🐶👏🙌👏🙌💯

🐾 Did you know?
About 85% of canine IVDD occurs in the mid-back, known as the thoracolumbar region 🦴

This area of the spine is especially vulnerable because the joint angles change abruptly as the thoracic spine transitions into the lumbar spine. Over time, this creates increased shear forces that stress the surrounding joints and soft tissues—leading to stiffness, restricted movement, and eventually intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) 😣

It’s important to understand that IVDD and disc herniations are progressive conditions. They don’t happen overnight—they develop from chronic joint dysfunction and poor spinal mobility 💡

✨ The goal with IVDD is prevention and management:
✅ Maintain optimal spinal joint mobility with regular chiropractic care
✅ Keep your dog lean and strong
✅ Support their diet with proper nutrition
✅ Encourage daily, appropriate exercise

When the spine moves well, neurological function and hind-leg strength stay stronger, helping your dog live a longer, healthier, and more active life 🐕💙

🐾 At-Home Mobility Check: The Cookie Neck Test 🐾

Want a simple way to check how your dog is moving?
Grab a treat and try this quick, fun at-home check 👇

🍪 How to do it
•Hold a treat just above your dog’s nose
•Slowly guide it:
• To the left ⬅️
• To the right ➡️
• Let your dog move naturally (no forcing)

👀 What to watch for
•Does one side move less than the other?
•Is there hesitation or stiffness?
•Does your dog avoid a certain direction?

⚡ Why this works
Range of motion can tell us a lot about mobility.
When joints are restricted or inflamed, movement often decreases in a specific direction.

It’s also important to remember:
•All nerve supply to the front legs comes from the neck
•Front-leg limping often connects back to neck restrictions on the same side✅

👉 Try this a few times and trust what you see.
If movement looks uneven or restricted, it may be worth learning more about what your dog’s body is telling you.

Senior dogs ❤️ Animal Chiropractic

Animal chiropractic isn’t just for limping or acute pain — it’s about giving our senior dogs the chance to stay mobile, vibrant, and comfortable well into their golden years.

As dogs age, we often assume it’s “normal” for them to slow down… but it doesn’t have to be that way. When their spine and joints move well, their whole body functions better — mobility, balance, comfort, even confidence. 🕺💃

Many of the dogs we treat are already active, happy seniors whose families want to keep them that way. Others are in mobility decline and simply need a short trial of treatments to get sustainably functional again 🥹

With gentle chiropractic care, we help optimize and maintain their mobility so they can keep doing the things they love: climbing stairs, jumping on the couch, chasing their favourite toy, or simply enjoying long walks together 🐕🦴

Seniorhood can be a beautiful chapter — and chiropractic is one of the greatest gifts we can give them to make those years truly shine ✨
