🌸 September is PMOS Awareness Month! 🌸
Did you know that Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), formerly called PCOS, is the most common condition I treat in my practice? 💗
PMOS affects approximately 10% of women. But PMOS is about so much more than fertility—it can affect metabolic health, hormones, menstrual cycles, and overall well-being.
While medication can be an important part of treatment, there is also growing evidence supporting an integrative approach to care. Acupuncture, movement, sleep, and other lifestyle modifications can all play an important role in supporting metabolic and reproductive health. 🌱✨
🥗 Diet matters, too. The right nutrition approach can help support blood sugar regulation, metabolic health, ovulation, and symptom management—and it doesn’t have to mean following an extreme or restrictive diet.
PMOS is also a condition I know personally. I share my own struggles with infertility and my IVF journey in my book, My PCOS Pregnancy: Your Guide to Getting and Staying Pregnant with PCOS. 📖💕
If you’re navigating PMOS and fertility challenges, know that you deserve comprehensive care that looks beyond your ovaries. 💗

✨ Thinking about trying to conceive in 2027? Start now. ✨
Healthy eggs and s***m take approximately 100 days to develop and mature, which means the months before you start TTC are an important opportunity to support your fertility. 🥚🧬
You don’t need to overhaul your entire life or be “perfect.” Small, consistent changes to nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, exercise, supplements and overall health can make a difference.
I’ve put together a comprehensive Fertility Checklist to help you know where to start—and it’s FREE! 🎉
👉 Check out my latest blog to learn more about preparing for pregnancy and grab your free Fertility Checklist through the link in my bio.
If 2027 is your TTC year, this is your sign to start thinking about it now. 💛

Part two: I’m a Naturopathic Doctor who treats hormones and I… 👀
✨ Eat gluten + dairy
✨ Wear sunscreen ☀️
✨ Get a fountain Coke Zero every time I go to Costco 😂
Because optimizing your hormone health does not require feeling deprived all the time.
🌾 Gluten: Whole grains can be an excellent source of fibre, vitamins and minerals, and gluten is not inherently inflammatory for the general population. If you have celiac disease, gluten absolutely needs to be avoided—but that’s very different from saying everyone should be gluten-free.
🥛 Dairy: If you tolerate it, dairy can be a convenient way to meet your protein and calcium needs. If regular dairy bothers your stomach, try lactose-free options rather than assuming you need to completely eliminate dairy.
☀️ Sunscreen: I’m honestly not sure why this is even controversial. Yes, you should wear sunscreen. 😂 Protect your skin!
🥤 Artificial sweeteners: You also don’t need to panic about these. Current evidence suggests commonly used artificial sweeteners are generally safe within established acceptable intake levels. A Coke Zero on a hot day—or every Costco trip—is not going to derail your hormones. 😉
The goal isn’t to create a life where you’re afraid of bread, dairy, sweeteners, restaurants or birthday cake.
We can optimize hormone health without deprivation.
You deserve evidence-based recommendations that help you feel better and still enjoy your life. ❤️

🥑 Let’s rank some foods for fertility! 🍓
But before you start thinking you need a perfect fertility diet… let’s remember: fertility nutrition is not about perfection. It’s about consistency. 🙌
There is no single “fertility superfood” that will make or break your chances of conceiving. What matters most is the overall pattern of your diet and the habits you can actually maintain.
Think 80/20: most of the time, prioritize nutrient-dense foods like vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes, healthy fats, protein and omega-3s… and leave room for the foods that bring you JOY. 🍫🍕🍪☕️
Because trying to conceive can already feel like a full-time job. You should still be able to go out for dinner, enjoy birthday cake, have a cookie with your coffee and live your life. ❤️
Your diet doesn’t need to be perfect to support fertility. Consistency wins.

🚨 A reminder: please stop commenting on women’s bodies.
Some things I’ve personally heard during pregnancy and postpartum:
🗣️ “You’re REALLY small — is everything okay with the baby?”
🗣️ “How much weight have you gained?”
🗣️ “How long did it take you to lose the baby weight?”
🗣️ “Congrats! I see you’re expecting!” — I was actually one year postpartum. I went home and cried. 💔
🗣️ “Are you pregnant again?” — asked in our reception area when I was only 8 weeks pregnant.
And I know that most people don’t mean to hurt anyone. But you have absolutely no idea what someone may be going through — whether they’re pregnant, postpartum, struggling with fertility, IVF, experiencing pregnancy loss, dealing with body image concerns, or simply having a hard day.
✨ Case in point: it is NEVER okay to comment on a woman’s body. Especially during pregnancy or the postpartum period.
Instead? Tell her she looks amazing. Tell her it’s good to see her. Ask how she’s doing. ❤️
And then leave the body comments at home.

“Everything is fine.”
But you know it doesn’t feel fine.
Maybe you’ve had a basic workup. Maybe they ran some blood work. Maybe your symptoms have been minimized, or you’ve been told to “just keep trying.”
And this is where my job begins. 🤍
As a fertility-focused naturopathic doctor, I’ve helped hundreds of patients navigate their fertility journeys—and I believe you deserve more than a quick checklist and a “come back in a year.”
🔎 We deeply investigate your fertility health.
🧬 We look at the bigger picture—not just one lab value.
📋 We carefully review your history, cycles, symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle, medications, supplements and previous testing.
🩺 We identify areas that may deserve further investigation or collaboration with your fertility team.
⏱️ And most importantly, we take the time to listen.
Because sometimes everything looks “normal” on paper… but you know something isn’t right.
You deserve comprehensive care. You deserve someone willing to leave no stone unturned. And you deserve a fertility plan that is thoughtful, individualized and evidence-informed.
If you’ve been told everything is “fine,” but it feels anything but—that’s my job. ✨

💪 Protein isn’t just about building muscle — it’s about keeping it.
As we get older, maintaining muscle mass becomes increasingly important for strength, mobility, metabolism and healthy aging. And protein plays a BIG role in helping us preserve that muscle. 🥩🥚🐟🌱
As an ND focused on women’s health, one of the things I help my patients with is making practical, evidence-based dietary choices — and protein is something I talk about a lot.
For active adults later in life, many experts recommend aiming for around 1.6 g of protein/kg of body weight per day to support muscle mass and overall musculoskeletal health. 💪🦴
But here’s the important part: protein works best when paired with resistance training.
🏋️‍♀️ Lift weights
🍗 Eat enough protein
🥗 Build balanced meals
💤 Prioritize recovery
➡️ Repeat consistently
You don’t need to be a bodybuilder to care about muscle. Building and maintaining strength is one of the best investments you can make in your future self — especially for women as we move through perimenopause and beyond. ❤️
Stronger, not smaller, is the goal.

🧬 Want healthier s***m? Start with the basics.
If you’re trying to conceive, s***m health matters just as much as egg health. And while there are plenty of supplements, lifestyle always comes first.👇
🥗 Eat a Mediterranean-style diet
Think plenty of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, nuts, fish/seafood and low-fat dairy, while minimizing processed meats, sweets and sugary drinks.
⚖️ Aim for a healthy weight
Excess body weight can negatively affect hormones, oxidative stress and s***m production. Even modest, sustainable weight loss can improve semen parameters.
🏃‍♂️ Exercise regularly
Moderate-intensity exercise is associated with better s***m health. More is not always better—very high-intensity training can be detrimental under certain circumstances.
🚭 Skip smoking & recreational drugs
Smoking, cannabis, and anabolic steroids have all been associated with poorer s***m parameters and/or increased s***m DNA damage.
🍷 Minimize alcohol
Heavy alcohol intake can negatively affect s***m production and quality. When trying to conceive, minimizing alcohol is the safest approach.
🔥 Keep the testicles cool
Frequent hot tubs/saunas, prolonged heat exposure and keeping a laptop on your lap can increase scrotal temperature and impair s***m production.
😴 Prioritize sleep + stress management
Adequate sleep is associated with better s***m motility, while significant psychological stress and sleep disorders have been linked with poorer semen quality.
🧴 Reduce unnecessary chemical exposures
Where practical, minimize exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals, pesticides and other environmental toxicants.
⏳ Think in 3-month timelines. S***m production takes roughly 3 months, so the changes you make today may take several months to show up in a semen analysis.
As a fertility-focused ND in Toronto, I work with couples on both sides of the fertility equation—including optimizing s***m health before trying naturally, IUI or IVF. 🧡

✨ It’s kinda chic to be a PCOS mama who loves being healthy… without making food stressful. ✨
I’m all for the veggies. 🥦
The protein. 🍳
The strength training. 💪
The sleep. 😴
The healthy habits that support hormones, fertility and long-term health.
But you know what else I’m all for?
🎂 Letting my kids eat the birthday cake.
🍕 Pizza nights.
🍪 Cookies at a playdate.
❤️ Enjoying food without attaching guilt to it.
Because healthy kids don’t need a perfect diet. They need parents who model a healthy relationship with food.
And yes, I’m a PCOS mama who built her family through IVF, and I’m also a naturopathic doctor with a special focus in fertility and hormone health.
So around here, we’re going to talk about real, evidence-based ways to support fertility, PCOS, hormones and overall health—without the fear-mongering, food rules or wellness-culture nonsense.
If you’re trying to grow your family and want advice grounded in actual evidence, you’re in the right place. 🫶
Follow along for more fertility + hormone health, with a healthy dose of real life. ✨
