Your mind never stops. It overthinks everything. Behind the polished façade you're fighting a constant churn of anxiety. You fill your life with activities that you don’t enjoy in order to calm your racing thoughts.

You feel overwhelmed by the sensations from within your own mind. You feel like you are drowning.

Your life is over-scheduled, and you are constantly behind your to-do list. There are too many directions pulling you at once. You feel like juggling with too many balls and wonder when all will come crashing down. You are keeping it together in order not to let others down. The truth is, you are letting yourself down.

You are driven by the nervous energy, fear of failure, and fear of disappointing others. The busier you are, the more anxiety and stress are invading your life. Stuck in guilt and anxiety, you are unsure what you really like anymore.

You have great difficulty trusting people. You find it even more difficult to experience and trust your own feelings. You've also become adept at presenting a fake persona to the world because you never show your true feelings to anyone. You find it challenging to create an authentic life of your own.

It’s almost impossible to stop the internal chatter, and falling asleep is a challenge. Enjoying the moment is hard as you are always focused on the future and what might go wrong. Future is scary as you tend to dwell on the negative.

You are over-stressed, overwhelmed, and exhausted. You have enough.

These are normal and valid feelings that many of us go through in our daily lives. We all experience these thoughts and emotions and tend to hide them away. One thing to try to remember when these overwhelming emotions come is that rather than being your thoughts and emotions, be the awareness behind them.

For Mental Health Month this year, individuals are encouraged to look around and look within. From your neighborhood to genetics, many factors come into play when it comes to mental health conditions. Your surroundings can impact if, how, and when your needs are met, which in turn affects your mental health. However, you can take steps to change your space and protect your well-being. We encourage everyone to consider how the world around you affects your mental health.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org. You can also reach Crisis Text Line by texting MHA to 741741.

Reminders for you and your loved ones 🌻💛

Sometimes, it's so easy to get caught up in life and the mess that follows along with it. I know it happens to me so very often that I get lost in my own thoughts, ruminate, sulk in my depression, and more. I hope some of these reminders help you ground yourself today.

Send this to anyone you think may need it as well!

The winter blues are very common, with many of us experiencing a mood shift during the colder, darker days of winter. You may find yourself feeling more lethargic and down overall.

Although you may feel more unhappy than usual, the winter blues typically do not affect your ability to enjoy life. But if your winter blues start permeating all aspects of your life — from work to personal relationships — you may be experiencing seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

SAD is a subtype of major depression that is characterized by the onset of depression during winter months when there is less natural light. For many people, symptoms usually start in the fall and continue into the winter months.

Check out these slides to see how SAD affects you, some signs to look out for, and tips to help you. What are some things you do to help you get through this time?

In three words, I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.

A motto I find myself relating to quite often recently. Life goes on even with all the tides and tribulations life throws, the fear, the confusions, the anxious days, and dark nights. Life goes on. It always has. It always will.

We often think specific moments (bad ones) are the be all, end all. However, it isn't. On a larger scale, say 5 years later or even a year later, that one moment you thought was the end was very much a small increment of a bigger picture that it is almost insignificant.

So, next time your mind is busy ruminating, a bad day gets to you, or you feel hopeless, remember, life goes on.
