LEARNstyle Ltd. We are driving the future of innovative learning so that we can give every person the opportunity to In 2008, they formed LEARNstyle Ltd.

Our passion and expertise grows out of a deep personal understanding of learning disabilities. DJ Cunningham, CEO has a significant learning disability, as does his brother. In school he faced all the issues of those with hidden disabilities: feelings of inadequacy and stupidity, concealment, embarrassment, ridicule, teasing, being viewed as lazy or defiant. He used common coping mechanisms such as becoming invisible; acting out; and at times and with growing sophistication, “playing the LD card.” At Trent University, he discovered assistive technologies and a door to independence and academic success opened. DJ has been a user of Assistive Technologies for the past 10 years and has trained hundreds of students and led numerous training workshops. Rick Cunningham, CFO has extensive experience in Special Education as a teacher, working at Thistletown Regional Centre and as a teacher diagnostician at The Child Development Clinic of the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. He has been an elementary and high school principal with the Toronto and York Region District School Boards. As a principal, he implemented a model of full inclusion supported by assistive technologies universally accessible on all computers in the school. Currently he is also the Associate Director of the Bachelor of Education Program at Tyndale University in Toronto. and have been service providers for SEA claims training,PD sessions, Tutoring, Tech Camps and keynote speeches on Assistive Technologies. Our vision for Assistive Technology has grown and we now see it as truly necessary for some but beneficial for all.

🍁 Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at LEARNstyle! 🍁

This Thanksgiving, we're especially grateful for the educators, school staff, and education partners who make a difference in students' lives every single day.

Behind every student's success is someone who believed in their potential, helped them overcome a challenge, or found a new way to make learning more accessible.

We're thankful for the dedication, creativity, and compassion educators bring to their classrooms, and for the opportunity to work alongside them to help create more inclusive and accessible learning environments.

Technology can open doors, but it's the people behind it who make the real difference. 💛

Here's to the educators who inspire, the students who persevere, and the communities that make learning possible.

Wishing our education partners, educators, students, and families a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🍂

🧡 Education has a powerful role to play in reconciliation.

Every day, educators help shape what students understand about our shared history, whose voices they hear, and how they learn to respect experiences and perspectives different from their own.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. We also recognize the responsibility of the education community to continue learning the truth about residential schools and their ongoing impacts.

Reconciliation in education is more than acknowledging one day. It is listening to Indigenous voices, creating space for Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives in learning, building meaningful relationships with communities, and ensuring Indigenous students feel respected, valued and supported.

To the educators, school leaders, families and communities doing this work: the learning continues beyond today.

At LEARNstyle, we remain committed to listening, learning and strengthening our relationships with the First Nations communities and education partners we have the privilege of working alongside.
Every Child Matters. 🧡

🤝 Leadership is at its strongest when every voice has a place at the table

LEARNstyle was proud to sponsor the CASSA Annual Leadership Conference in Saskatoon, where education leaders from across Canada came together under this year's inspiring theme:

Leadership for Belonging: One Community, Many Voices 💙

The conference celebrated the power of inclusive leadership bringing together superintendents, directors of education, and system leaders to share ideas, strengthen connections, and explore how we can build school communities where every student, educator, and family feels seen, valued, and empowered.

🏆 One of the highlights of the conference was recognizing exceptional leadership in Canadian education. We were honoured to have Jeff Hainbuch, LEARNstyle's Director of Educational Partnerships, present the CASSA Distinguished Service Award to Michael Borgfjord, Superintendent of Schools/CEO of Black Gold School Division, in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to education.

👏 Congratulations, Michael, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you to CASSA for hosting such an inspiring conference. We are grateful to be part of conversations that advance educational leadership, foster collaboration, and help create learning communities where everyone belongs.

💙 Sometimes, all it takes is one person believing in a child before they can believe in themselves.

Today, we're spotlighting Hayley Wallace, Reading Intervention Coach at LEARNstyle.

Hayley didn't plan on a career in education. While pursuing post-secondary studies with the goal of working in harm reduction with at-risk youth, she discovered a passion that would change her life: helping children with diverse learning needs.

Today, she is dedicated to creating safe, supportive spaces where students can thrive and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Her favourite part of the job?

✨ "The 'AHA!' moment - when students who have started to lose confidence in themselves finally see themselves succeeding. It's a beautiful thing."

Those moments of confidence, growth, and self-belief are why we do what we do.

Thank you, Hayley, for making a difference in the lives of so many students every day 💙

🌞 Sunshine, laughter, and a little friendly competition.

Our LEARNstyle team recently traded keyboards for lawn bowls as we came together for our Summer Social at the Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club.

From first-time bowlers to surprise pros, the day was filled with great conversations, plenty of laughs, delicious food, and a chance to celebrate everything we've accomplished together this year.

Moments like these remind us that strong teams are built not only through the work we do, but through the connections we make along the way.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so memorable. Here's to teamwork, community, and enjoying the journey together 💙

🚀 What if leadership development in education received the same level of intentionality as student learning?

In EdTech, we're constantly talking about innovation, engagement, and outcomes. But behind every successful implementation, every thriving school partnership, and every educator we support is something less visible:

💬 The quality of leadership conversations.

Last week, LEARNstyle's leaders came together for our second Leadership Lab, a bi-annual gathering dedicated to strengthening the skills that drive meaningful impact across our organization.

A key milestone from this session was completing our study of Crucial Conversations—a shared framework that challenges us to navigate high-stakes discussions with clarity, accountability, and respect.

Why does this matter?

Because supporting educators isn't just about building great solutions. It's about building a culture where leaders can:

🎯 Address challenges directly rather than avoid them
🤝 Foster trust across teams and partnerships
📈 Make better decisions when the stakes are high
🌱 Create environments where feedback fuels growth

The same principles that help schools build strong cultures are the principles we strive to embody as an organization.

As we prepare for 2026 and beyond, we're investing not only in what we build, but in how we lead—because better leadership creates better teams, stronger partnerships, and ultimately greater impact for the educators and learners we serve.

✨ The future of education won't be shaped by technology alone. It will be shaped by leaders who know how to listen, learn, and have the conversations that matter most.

Some students will never remember the lesson.

But they will remember the teacher who made them feel seen 💙

For Randy Shand, Coaching Manager at LEARNstyle, that truth is deeply personal.

Growing up with an exceptionality, school often felt isolating. There were moments of frustration, moments of feeling different, and moments where simply being understood could change everything.

What stayed with Randy wasn’t every assignment or test score.
It was the educators who listened.
The ones who took the time to truly hear him.

That experience became his purpose.

Today, Randy supports educators and students across LEARNstyle, helping create learning environments where blind and low vision students feel included, empowered, and valued for who they are not limited by what they cannot see.

From Technology Coach to Regional Coaching Manager, his mission has always remained the same: making sure no student feels invisible.

And for Randy, the most meaningful moments aren’t measured in reports or outcomes.

They’re found in the quiet victories:
A student smiling again.
A child speaking up for the first time.
A moment where someone finally feels safe enough to believe they belong.

“You could have 100 words to say, but ‘I hear you’ is often enough.”

This Education Week, we celebrate educators like Randy - the ones who lead with empathy, listen with intention, and remind us that sometimes the greatest thing we can give a student is the feeling that they matter.

This may look like just a part of the LEARNstyle team but it represents something much larger.

This is the group behind the User Group Conference. The same team that has been deeply invested in building RISE and SEAit - not just as solutions, but as responses to real needs voiced by school boards and educators 🎓

In EdTech, it’s easy to focus on the technology.

But the real work happens in the collaboration behind it - the discussions, the disagreements, and the persistence to keep refining until it truly serves its purpose 🔁

What’s captured here is only a fraction of the people involved.
What’s not visible is the collective effort that makes meaningful progress possible.

Because transforming education isn’t about a single idea — it’s about teams willing to build, listen, and evolve together 🤝

Two days. Dozens of conversations. One shared goal: making systems work better for education.

This week, the LEARNstyle User Group Spring 2026 wrapped up and what stood out wasn’t just what was presented 💬 but what was built together.

Because a true User Group isn’t about sitting through sessions.
It’s about showing up with real challenges and leaving with real direction 🚀

Over two days, school board partners:
• Worked through everyday realities behind RISE and SEAit
• Shared what’s working (and what isn’t) across teams and boards
• Asked tough, practical questions and got equally practical answers
• Helped shape what’s next through honest, experience-driven feedback

From case management and IT/SIS workflows to financial processes and student data practices, every discussion was grounded in one thing: impact where it matters most- day-to-day operations.

And the most powerful part?

The collective experience in the room.

Because progress happens faster when it’s shared.
When one board’s challenge becomes another’s solution.
When feedback turns into action.

To every school board who contributed, questioned, and collaborated-THANK YOU 💙

You didn’t just attend a User Group.
You helped move the work forward.
