Only 3 days to go until the IFS Canadian Community Conference !
This workshop brings together Indigenous mental health practitioners to explore the use of Internal Family Systems (IFS) within Indigenous communities. Structured as a “tea and talk,” the session moves beyond a conventional panel format to model what it means to arrive in community in a good way. A “tea and talk” format allows spaciousness for dialogue and relationality by prioritizing slowness and connection. Panelists will reflect on where IFS aligns with Indigenous understandings of spirit, ancestral gifts, and generational healing, as well as where tensions, limitations, or boundaries may arise. Attention will be given to questions of cultural safety, scope of practice, and what should or should not be translated across contexts.
Together, this circle will explore shared experiences of using IFS in community-based clinical practice and beyond. Panelists will be asked to engage with their work using teletherapy, in-person work, group work, and workshops that engage with Indigenous communities and peoples. The group will also reflect on personal experiences of learning through IFS training, consultation groups, and even individual therapy. Not only do we wish to identify the strengths and tensions of using IFS as practitioners, but also as learners and recipients of the model. Not Recorded (Live Only)
