Weaving Wellness Centre

Weaving Wellness Centre The Weaving Wellness Centre was founded in January 2020 by Tera Beaulieu.

As a psychotherapist, Tera had a clear vision for a clinical and consulting practice that would be rooted in principles of story, wholism, spirit, relationship and justice. In its clinical and consulting work, the Centre welcomes and aims to support all those who are focused on growth, transformation and change, and specializes in working with Indigenous peoples and communities from culturally gro

unded perspectives of mental health, well-being and healing. The Weaving Wellness Centre and its helpers are committed to innovation and education within the field of mental health, and endeavour to contribute and create positive change to understandings of wellness and healing within individual, community and National spaces.

Only 3 days to go until the IFS Canadian Community Conference !

This workshop brings together Indigenous mental health practitioners to explore the use of Internal Family Systems (IFS) within Indigenous communities. Structured as a “tea and talk,” the session moves beyond a conventional panel format to model what it means to arrive in community in a good way. A “tea and talk” format allows spaciousness for dialogue and relationality by prioritizing slowness and connection. Panelists will reflect on where IFS aligns with Indigenous understandings of spirit, ancestral gifts, and generational healing, as well as where tensions, limitations, or boundaries may arise. Attention will be given to questions of cultural safety, scope of practice, and what should or should not be translated across contexts.

Together, this circle will explore shared experiences of using IFS in community-based clinical practice and beyond. Panelists will be asked to engage with their work using teletherapy, in-person work, group work, and workshops that engage with Indigenous communities and peoples. The group will also reflect on personal experiences of learning through IFS training, consultation groups, and even individual therapy. Not only do we wish to identify the strengths and tensions of using IFS as practitioners, but also as learners and recipients of the model. Not Recorded (Live Only)

✨Starting This Month✨
We're looking to host an IFS Indigenous Community Collective space with clinicians and helpers using Internal Family Systems in their work with clients and community members.

We would like to create a space to share ideas and experiences related to members' use of IFS. This will be our inaugural session, and we will be seeking feedback on what might be needed in the space.

📆 Date: March 20th
🕒 Time: 3:00 PM EST (1:00 PM MDT/CST)
💻 Format: Virtual via Zoom
✍️ Registration Link: weavingwellness.ca/ifs-collective

Formal IFS training is not a requirement, but is recommended for joining the group.
This is intended to be a space that prioritizes Indigenous voices from Turtle Island, and we ask that only Métis, First Nation and Inuit participants join.

------------------------------

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based psychotherapy model that can support and deepen traditional healing practices in some community contexts. This therapeutic model describes the internal world of the individual as a system of protective parts that arise as we encounter challenges in life. Healing work is made possible by noticing and acknowledging these protective parts, and extending compassion to them when they take on extreme roles.

One of the core concepts of IFS includes connecting with a core Self that is akin to concepts of Spirit, from which we draw strength on our journeys. This model's ability to connect with ancestral burdens and gifts, and its compatibility with ceremony, make it a promising tool in supporting community healing.

This year marks 30 years of celebrating Black History Month, yet Black and Afro-Indigenous brilliance extends far beyond these decades. It lives in centuries of resistance, innovation, artistry, and care across Turtle Island.

As we reflect on this year’s theme, Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations, we honour the Black knowledge keepers, helpers, and community builders whose histories—and futures—are woven into this land.

We invite ongoing reflection and action: to learn the histories that shape us, to actively challenge anti-Blackness in all spaces, and to practice solidarity that is intentional, accountable, and sustained.

As part of this commitment, we will be making a donation in support of the Ontario Missing Boys Project, contributing to community-led efforts that honour Black lives, safety, and justice: https://survey.findontariomissingboys.ca/

At the Weaving Wellness Centre, we honour Solstice as a time when the land invites us into stillness, balance, and gentle renewal. As the sun pauses, we’re reminded of the teachings that guide our work: that healing is cyclical, relationships matter, and slowing down is medicine.

For many Indigenous peoples, Solstice marks a moment to reflect on what we’ve carried this year — the joys, the grief, the growth, and the parts of our spirit that need tending. Mental health is shaped by connection: to culture, to community, to land, and to our own rhythms. This season reminds us that light returns slowly, and that rest is a necessary part of wellness.

We also hold space for those navigating heavier feelings at this time. Whether you are finding comfort in ceremony, in community, or in quiet moments alone, your story and your wellness matter. You deserve support that honours your whole self — mind, body, spirit, and heart.
As the light begins its return, we offer warmth, gratitude, and care to all our relatives. May this Solstice bring grounding, gentleness, and a renewed sense of balance.

In community,
The Weaving Wellness Centre
