Linking Hip Biomechanics to Low Back Pain

The results suggest that:
• Range of motion is reduced in total movements and internal/external hip rotation in patients with LBP compared to healthy individuals.
• Strength of the hip abductor and extensor muscles is reduced in patients with LBP compared to asymptomatic individuals.
• Patients with LBP adopt strategies to reduce speed and change hip flexion movements as compared to asymptomatic individuals during functional activities.
• Electromyographic assessment of patients with LBP exhibited shorter activation time and greater amplitude of the hip muscles as compared to healthy individuals.
