First responders and frontline healthcare workers are there for us on our hardest days, often carrying the weight of trauma long after their shift ends.
They deserve care that understands their unique experiences.
That’s why we’re building Canada’s first dedicated PTSI Centre of Excellence for first responders and frontline healthcare professionals. A place designed to support healing, recovery, and hope.

Today, we honour their strength and reaffirm our commitment to supporting those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

Runnymede is honoured to share a milestone moment for our organization and for the dedicated individuals who safeguard the health and safety of our communities. The federal and provincial government announced a remarkable $15 million investment to strengthen essential supports for the first responders and frontline healthcare workers who show extraordinary courage every single day.

As part of this visionary commitment, Runnymede Healthcare Centre will become home to Ontario’s first Post‑Traumatic Stress Injury Centre of Excellence — a place created exclusively for the first responders and frontline healthcare professionals who carry the weight of some of the most challenging moments in our society.

This centre will offer specialized care, evidence‑based resources, and a compassionate environment for those experiencing post‑traumatic stress injuries, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. It represents a profound step forward in recognizing the sacrifices these individuals make and ensuring they receive the support they so deeply deserve. This investment is more than an announcement, it is a promise. A promise that those who stand on the front lines for all of us will never stand alone
