A week before this race, I was gripping the side rails, genuinely afraid we were going to tip.
A week later?
Heavier winds…and this time I was at the helm 😬
(Rookie!).
Boat heeling.
Weather helm (it’s a thing!) pulling me off course.
And instead of fear, I felt this fierce focus.
Stand strong.
Pull back to course.
Feel the boat.
Read the wind.
Trust the crew.
Go. Go. Go!
I’ve got this.
I was completely in it.
And I keep thinking about that moment.
How different something feels when you stop trying to predict what might happen and just deal with what’s actually happening.
Because we all have things in life we can’t control.
And it’s so easy for our minds to get ten steps ahead. To run through every scenario. Every what if. Every possible outcome.
But none of that changes what’s right in front of us.
Right here. Right now. What’s mine to do next?
Courage isn’t about being fearless.
It’s about being so present that fear doesn’t get to make the decisions.
You can’t always control what’s coming at you.
But you CAN keep your hands on the wheel and stand strong 💪
Fear doesn’t steer 👊
