What an incredible 3 days in Halifax for NCT’26!

When people asked me my highlight, I couldn’t choose just one - it was the buzz.

The buzz of learning.
The buzz of connection.
The buzz of community.

From the excitement of the inaugural Research Day, to inspiring keynotes from diverse healthcare voices, to hands-on sessions that brought ideas to life…

From celebrating outstanding and deserving award recipients on the main stage all the way to the dance floor.

Seeing the chiropractic community come together to elevate the future of our profession, and the healthcare system, was truly inspiring.

This is a buzz that doesn’t end here… it’s momentum for the work ahead!

DR. MICHAEL BRICKMAN AWARD

Last weekend, I had the absolute honour of receiving the Dr. Michael Brickman Heart and Hands Award at - an award given to a practising chiropractor who embodies a generous, giving spirit (the heart) and a deep passion and dedication to chiropractic care (the hands).

Knowing the impact Dr. Brickman has had on our profession, along with the incredible work of past recipients (including my own mentor ), makes this recognition truly humbling. The fact that it’s peer-nominated and chosen makes it even more meaningful.

I’m so grateful to do the work I love every day and to support my community alongside such amazing colleagues.

Thank you to my family, friends and mentors, whose steady support and wisdom have shaped me in ways I could never fully express. And to my patients, thank you for the profound honour of trusting me with your health, and the health of your families. Your confidence, stories, and commitment inspire me every single day.

And lastly, thank you all for the overwhelming kindness and messages of support this past week. I’m so grateful for this community.

Today I got to check skiing the Matterhorn - above and through the clouds - off my bucket list. Spectacular and breathtaking views beyond words.. and, I survived to tell the tale!

HONOURING DR. GREG KAWCHUK

Today, we celebrated the life and legacy of one of chiropractic’s greats, Dr. Greg Kawchuk.

Greg was a chiropractor, researcher, mentor, innovator, and most importantly, an incredible human that had an infectious positivity.

He leaves us all with the important task of carrying forward his work and legacy, and in turn, the profession, to continually speak truth to his famous words:

‘There has never been a better time to be a chiropractor.’

Thank you for all your work, mentorship, and kindness, Dr. Kawchuk. Rest easy.

As you may have noticed, I haven’t been as active on social media lately as I’ve focused on my own health, but I’m happy to say I’m back and have been working on exciting professional next steps!

HAPPY LONG WEEKEND, FRIENDS!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy long weekend with time to pause and take in the unofficial start of summer!

PAUSE

Last week in practice I noticed a real shift, patients had more feelings of overwhelm, significant fatigue and burnout, and a resounding consensus of “I’m so over this”.

I hope you all got some time to pause over the weekend and do something to fill your cup. As we continue in this pandemic, with rolling lockdowns (in Ontario), we need to find the small things that bring us happiness, and do them regularly! Also, check in with your friends, family, parents, small business owners - support each other as you can based on your capacity.

And, if you didn’t get a chance to slow down this weekend, Mother Nature took things into her own hands by piling us with snow and forcing us to pause.
