After a Whiplash Injury YOU have 3 weeks to receive the right care or risk a life time of chronic pain and loss of function.
What's worse, if you have brain fog, loss of concentration, tinnitus, blurred vision, double vision, motion sickness in a car, and headaches/head pressure when trying to use a computer or watch TV, your injury is a complex neurofunctional impairment that will not get better with generic physiotherapy, massage therapy or medications.
Want to know why, check out the video below, and then schedule your appointment today. The longer you wait, the worse your condition can get, as Whiplash is NOT a soft tissue injury, it is a progressive disease state that will effect your spinal biomechanics, CSF lymphatic drainage from your brain, brain wave function, vestibular function, HPA axis, hormones, immune system and pain. The longer these systems are negatively effected, the worse your conditions becomes and the harder rehabilitation and recovery are.
Here are some red flags to look out for.
1. If your auto insurer offers you a payout at the start of the claim, ask, how do they know what my injury is and what I need. The short answer, they don't. It is more cost effective to close your claim early, before you/they find out what the true extent of your injury is.
2. The auto insurer or tow truck driver recommends a Rehab clinic that "specializes in Whiplash". First, there are less than 5 doctors in Ontario that I know of that have significant Whiplash Traumatology post graduate training. Secondly, ask, who is the doctor and what training in Whiplash do they have. When they cannot answer this simple question, you know there are ulterior motives to their referral.
3. You go to a Physiotherapist, and they ask, "Where is your Pain" and then start generic massage in that region, put a hot pack on you, and send you a link to stretches. This is a mill type treatment program that is based on client volume for profit. If you fall into this trap you will notice that after treatment you feel good for 1 to 4 hours and the pain is then worse, more then before your treatment. This means that the treatment is actually worsening your injury.
4. The auto insurer states, "You may have to pay out of pocket if you go to another clinic" This is deceptive in that the auto insurer has to pay all clinics listed on HCAI directly. But they imply that their preferred provider is the only clinic that you don't have to worry paying out of pocket. Technically the statement is true, but they are just leaving out the part about every clinic listed on HCAI as also having the same ability to bill the insurer directly for services.
5. Your Medical Doctor says, "You have Whiplash", its just a "Soft Tissue Injury", "Your x-ray is normal". Prescribes muscle relaxants or anti-inflammatories and says don't worry its not serious. Remember in Ontario, OHIP is Triage care. Watch the video below. If your doctor says this, then they are citing insurance paid for literature based on research between 1983 and 1995 that was designed, according to the authors, to reduce physiotherapy costs. This research publication was published 3 years prior to the actual cause of whiplash injury being discovered at Yale Medical School. To put this in perspective if your doctor is saying this, they are quoting a research article that was published before MRI and CT were commonly used in hospitals.
If you do not take control of your health, others wont. Schedule an appointment online today. Our clinic is HCAI registered and we can bill the auto insurance directly. There is a reason that Medical Schools, Medical Associations, Chiropractic Schools and Chiropractic Associations in North American and Europe trust us as to teach the only dully accredited Whiplash Traumatology program in the world, and teach all doctors (MD, MD specialists, DC, PT, etc.) how to assess, diagnosis and treatment Whiplash Traumatology injuries.
