June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada.

At Infoway, we are committed to advancing a Connected Care system that respects Indigenous rights, supports data sovereignty and promotes culturally appropriate, equitable access to care.

We acknowledge that meaningful progress requires ongoing collaboration, listening and learning. This month—and every month—we reaffirm our commitment to supporting Indigenous-led approaches to digital health and better outcomes for Indigenous communities.

For the latest edition of our Connected Care in Action series, we’re spotlighting recipients of the 2025 Vendor Innovation Program (VIP) from B.C. and the Prairies.

Designed to support the development and real-world implementation of interoperability solutions aligned with our Roadmap, these projects demonstrate how innovation can drive adoption—improving data quality, enhancing care coordination and expanding access to standardized, actionable health information.

Hear from Dr Mike Forseth, CEO and Co-Founder of Ava Industries, and S***n Samanani, Occupational Therapist at Siksika Health Services (Okaki) to learn more.

The best digital health solutions start with clinicians—not after decisions are made, but when tools are shaped and designed.

Through our Centre for Clinical Innovation in Digital Health (CIDH), we’re supporting grassroots, clinician-led innovation by working directly with those on the front lines of care.

Our latest video features Dr. Rashaad Bhyat, Infoway’s Senior Clinical Leader, Mitchell Bennett from Centre CASA, a 2025 Innovation Grant recipient, and patient partner Harjeet Kaur. They share how engaging clinicians early can reduce duplication, improve interoperability, and help ensure patients don’t have to repeat their stories at every step of their care journey.

When clinicians lead, innovation delivers better outcomes—for patients, providers and the entire health system.

What does it take to move digital health from concept to real-world impact? Carlie Gau is working at that intersection—partnering with clinicians, provinces and territories to support the adoption of digital health tools across Canada.

In our latest Employee Spotlight, she shares insights from her work on the AI Scribe Program, along with lessons learned from other key initiatives—including clinician-led evaluations, regional launches and interoperability pilots.

Through our Employee Spotlight Series, we’re showcasing the talented individuals who are helping to advance digital health interoperability in Canada. Carlie Gau works closely with clinicians, provinces and territories to support the adoption of digital health tools.

Next week, we'll be at the CAHSPR Conference 2026 in Ottawa—joining leaders from across the country to explore how evidence can better inform health system transformation.

Our team will be contributing to four sessions, with a strong focus on AI in clinical care and health system decision-making. From evaluating the real-world impact of AI scribes, to understanding what’s driving (and limiting) AI adoption among physicians, to exploring how AI can improve access to trusted health data—these discussions are grounded in pan-Canadian insights and practical application.

We’ll also discuss findings from the 2025 Canadian Medical Student Survey, highlighting how prepared Canada’s future physicians are for digital practice—and where gaps remain.

If you’re attending, we hope to see you there.

Behind every digital health solution are the people who ensure it works in practice—not just in theory.

At Infoway, we’re grateful for the contributions of our nurse champions, Dominique Boston and Michelle Culverwell, whose insights help ensure our work reflects the realities of nursing practice and the needs of those delivering care.

Michelle brings experience across emergency, community and virtual care—grounding her work in what clinicians need to deliver coordinated, high-quality care. At Infoway, she focuses on advancing Connected Care in ways that translate into real-world impact, helping ensure digital solutions support nurses in their day-to-day practice and bridge the gap between strategy and reality.

Dominique’s experience in acute care and now as a primary care nurse practitioner continues to shape her perspective on the importance of connected information. She has seen firsthand how disconnected systems can impact clinical decisions—and how well-designed, interoperable tools can improve both clinician and patient experiences across the care journey.

This , we’re proud to work alongside our nurse leaders to help ensure the future of Connected Care is built with, and for, those delivering care every day.
