To our Mino.

In Fon, Mino means “our mothers.” A title born in Dahomey. A name first carried by the women warriors who stood between the kingdom and everything that tried to break it.
But Mino was never reserved for the women who gave birth.

It was a name the community placed on the shoulders of every woman who chose us. Who fought for us. Fed us. Defended us. Spoke for us when we had no voice.

The aunties. The teachers. The healers. The organizers. The neighbors who raised other people’s children like their own. The women who never carried a child in their womb - but carried entire communities on their shoulders.

This Mother’s Day, we honor every Mino. By birth. By love. By advocacy. By sacrifice.

You are the reason this brand carries your name.

Happy Mother’s Day from Mino Care. 🤎

Introducing Baby Love

A 7 week supportive group program for parents, caregivers, and their babies (2 to 15 months), brought to you by Mino Care in collaboration with the Abiona Centre for Infant and Early Mental Health.

Baby Love is all about helping you better understand and respond to your baby’s feelings while building a strong, secure bond that lasts a lifetime. Through guided conversations, activities, play, and meaningful connections with other caregivers, you’ll learn how to:

-Know what’s on your baby’s mind so you can respond and build security
-Read and respond to cues and soothe your baby back to calm
-Enhance your caregiving skills and gain greater confidence
-Support the development of your baby’s security with you
-Connect with other caregivers and form new relationships along the way.

Many caregivers leave feeling more confident, less alone, and better equipped with practical tools to support their baby’s development and their own wellbeing.

This is MinoFest 2026 in motion. The energy, the voices, the moments that made April 11 a day none of us will forget. From our keynote to the panels, the art, the lunch conversations, and everything in between, this reel is just a glimpse of what happened in that room.

We gathered researchers, clinicians, midwives, doulas, policy makers, community organizers, and advocates all under one roof with one shared purpose. To advance equitable perinatal and reproductive health outcomes for Black and racialized communities. And what unfolded was nothing short of extraordinary.

If you were there, we hope this brings it all back. If you were not, let this be your sign to join us next year.
The full conference recording drops today.

Thank you to everyone who made MinoFest 2026 what it was. This community is everything.

Black Maternal Health Week is over —but the work doesn’t stop here.

In Canada, Black birthing people still face higher rates of complications, systemic racism, and inequities due to a lack of culturally safe care. We’ve made some progress, but the truth is: we have a long way to go.

Let this be a reminder that Black maternal health is Canadian health. It’s time to move from awareness to accountability.

Here’s what we need:

🖤 Fund Black-led maternal health research
🖤 Mandate anti-racism training for healthcare providers
🖤 Invest in culturally safe, community-based care
🖤 Listen to Black birthing people—then act

🗣️ Tag someone who needs to see this. Let’s keep pushing for change, beyond the hashtags.
