Introducing our Lead Yoga Trainer - Niya Bajaj Anti Diet Weight Struggles Expert - Niya
Niya is excited to work with the Sekond Skin team because our shared value of collaborating with and in community is an incredible beginning to realize a safer, more inclusive, and just future where nothing about us happens without us. As someone who has been left out of movement spaces, or been told that she “didn’t fit” Niya is looking forward to welcoming students to a learning space that is designed for and enriched by their lived expertise. She’s so pleased to learn from her colleagues and to share the practices from her lineage to help amplify the impact these incredible humans are already making and to support their development as leaders.
Niya is an award-winning IAYT-certified yoga therapist and narrative-medicine facilitator. She has thousands of hours of yogic training in philosophy, biomechanics, and therapeutic applications as well as is a best-selling author, award-winning mental health champion, mentor and philanthropist.
With extensive experience designing and leading adult-learning programs—including mindfulness-based leadership development and trauma-informed and responsive yoga training—Niya brings ancient wisdom and modern science together in an accessible, evidence-informed, grounded, inclusive way.
Her ideas on a salutogenic approach to well-being have been featured in Forbes, the New York Times, the Toronto Star, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Globe and Mail, Yoga Therapy Today, and the book “Are We Friends or Co-workers?”.
