Dr. Camille Krause, ND explains why the uterine microbiome matters for getting pregnant, staying pregnant, and carrying to term, and why this is one of the most exciting and underappreciated areas in fertility care right now.

The 100 days before conception are a gift. Here is why:

Eggs take approximately 100 days to mature before retrieval or ovulation, and s***m take 74 to 90 days to fully develop. That means the food you eat, the sleep you prioritize, the stress you manage, and the supplements you take right now are directly shaping the eggs and s***m that will be part of conception months from now.

This window is about giving your body the building blocks it needs to produce the healthiest possible eggs and s***m. Small, consistent changes during this time can influence egg quality, s***m parameters, and ultimately your fertility treatment outcomes.

Not sure where to start? That is exactly what we are here for.

Acupuncture has been used to support reproductive health for centuries, and modern research is catching up to explain why.

For women navigating fertility challenges, acupuncture works on several levels:
- Blood flow: Acupuncture increases circulation to the uterus and ovaries, supporting a healthy uterine lining and follicle development.
- Hormone regulation: It helps regulate the hypothalamic pituitary ovarian axis, the hormonal signaling system that controls your cycle, ovulation, and progesterone production.
- Stress and cortisol: Chronic stress elevates cortisol, which can interfere with reproductive hormones. Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system and bring cortisol back into balance.
- IVF support: Research suggests acupuncture around the time of embryo transfer may support implantation by improving uterine receptivity and reducing uterine contractions.

It is not a standalone treatment, but as part of a comprehensive fertility plan, it can be a meaningful piece of the puzzle.

S***m DNA fragmentation (SDF) refers to breaks or damage in the DNA of s***m cells. When s***m and egg combine, damaged DNA may prevent the formation of a genetically normal embryo. As a result, s***m DNA damage may reduce fertility, impair embryo development, and increase the risk of miscarriage.

An important thing to know: a semen analysis can come back completely normal — with normal count, motility, and morphology — and still have elevated DNA fragmentation. Without specialized testing, this issue would go undetected.
