If you're experiencing symptoms such as persistent pain, sensitivity, swollen gums, facial pimples, or cracked or discolored teeth, it's important to schedule an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment of a root canal can help prevent further complications and discomfort.

Here at Perlmutter Dentistry, our team is dedicated to providing gentle and effective root canal procedures. We understand that the thought of dental work can cause anxiety, and we'll do everything we can to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

The Persistent Pain: This one's a giveaway. A throbbing or aching toothache that doesn't go away with pain relievers or fades on its own could be a sign of an inflamed or infected tooth pulp. This pulp houses the nerves and blood vessels of your tooth, and when it gets irritated, it can cause some serious discomfort.

Sensitivity Extremes: Is your tooth hypersensitive to hot or cold beverages? Does it react painfully to sweet or sour foods? Lingering sensitivity, especially after the source of the discomfort has been removed, can indicate pulp damage that might require a root canal.

Swollen Gums or a Facial Pimple: Inflammation and swelling around the affected tooth or on your gums are potential signs of an infection. In some cases, this infection can create a pimple-like bump on your gums, which can be quite tender.

A Cracked or Discolored Tooth: Physical damage to your tooth, like a crack or chip, can expose the pulp and make it vulnerable to infection. Additionally, a darkened or discolored tooth may indicate a dead or dying pulp, necessitating a root canal.
