Think a postpartum doula isn’t worth it because you’re breastfeeding?

Here’s what overnight support actually looks like...

✨ You stay in bed sleeping while your doula listens for baby and brings them to you when it’s time to feed.
✨ Need help with positioning, latch, or figuring out what’s going on? Your doula is right there for hands-on guidance, reassurance, troubleshooting and education.
✨ When the feed is finished, you close your eyes. Your doula takes care of the diaper change, burping, settling baby back to sleep, and any soothing they need.
✨ Your water is refilled, your snack is within reach, and someone is taking care of you, too.

Breastfeeding doesn’t mean doing every part of the night alone.

Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t someone feeding your baby... it’s someone making sure you get back to sleep as quickly as possible.

It seems like we are trapped in a never ending heat wave! It’s hot out, almost too hot to get comfortable to sleep. You are feeling the heat and so is your little one.

We have 6 Summer Sleep Tips for Newborns During a Heatwave

1. Dress Baby Lightly Less is more in hot weather. A diaper and a lightweight cotton onesie or just a diaper may be all your baby needs. Choose breathable natural fabrics like cotton or bamboo.
2. Keep the Room Cool Aim for a room temperature between 20–22°C (68–72°F) if possible. Use air conditioning if you have it, or a fan to circulate air. Never point a fan directly at your baby.
3. Skip Blankets Use a lightweight sleep sack (0.2–0.5 TOG) or no sleep sack at all if the room is very warm. Loose blankets increase the risk of suffocation and overheating.
4. Watch for Signs of Overheating Check the back of your baby’s neck or chest—not their hands or feet. If they’re sweaty, flushed, or feel hot to the touch, remove a layer and cool the room if you can.
5. Block Out the Heat Close blinds or curtains during the hottest part of the day to keep the nursery cooler. Opening windows in the evening or early morning can help bring in cooler air once outdoor temperatures drop.
6. Feed on Demand Hot weather can make babies want to feed more often. Frequent breastfeeds or formula feeds help keep them hydrated. Babies under 6 months do not need extra water unless specifically advised by their healthcare provider.
💙 Helping Hands Tip: If you’re feeling uncomfortable in the heat, there’s a good chance your newborn is too. Focus on keeping the environment cool rather than adding extra layers “just in case.”
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and remember that a few disrupted naps during a heatwave are completely normal. Once temperatures ease, your baby’s sleep usually settles back into its usual rhythm.
