Some clinical studies may include an in-clinic stay. The length and schedule depend on the specific study.

During a clinic stay, participants may follow a study schedule that can include meals, rest periods, sample collection, health checks, and other study-related procedures.

The study team will explain what to expect before participation, including the schedule, requirements, and any restrictions.

Every study is different, so always review your study documents and ask the team if you have questions.

At BPSI, our work is shaped by the scientific expertise, collaboration, and dedication of the people behind every study.

Meet Negar Gharavi, Vice President of Clinical Pharmacology at BPSI. Negar’s passion for science began in high school, where she became fascinated by how medicines are developed to improve patients’ lives. She went on to earn her PharmD from Tehran University and a PhD in Drug Metabolism from the University of Alberta.

Negar joined BPSI more than a decade ago as a Senior Pharmacokinetic Scientist and has grown alongside the organization. Today, she leads multidisciplinary teams across Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, Medical Writing, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Documentation.

For Negar, one of the most meaningful parts of her work is bringing science to life through clinical research, from study design and protocol development to regulatory submissions and clinical study reports.

She is also passionate about mentorship and building strong teams. Seeing team members grow, develop confidence, and succeed is one of the most rewarding parts of her role.
Her advice to those starting out in the industry: stay curious, never stop learning, build strong scientific foundations, and continue developing communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Outside of work, Negar enjoys spending quality time with her family, staying active, spending time outdoors, and connecting with family and friends.

Thank you, Negar, for sharing your story and for the important work you do at BPSI.

Before a medication reaches a pharmacy shelf, it goes through many important steps.

The process can include scientific research, clinical studies, regulatory review, quality checks, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, and ongoing monitoring once the medication is available.

Each step plays a role in helping ensure medicine are studied, reviewed, and produced with care.

It is a reminder that healthcare progress depends on many teams working together, from researchers and healthcare professionals to regulatory experts, manufacturers, pharmacists, and patients.

The Belmont Report is an important document in research ethics.

It highlights three key principles: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice.

In clinical research, these ideas connect to informed participation, careful study design, clear communication, and fair participation selection.

For volunteers, this means understanding the study, having the opportunity to ask questions, and knowing that each study has specific eligibility criteria.
