Meet Samareh, Registered Psychotherapist at BLCC and one of our child and youth therapy specialists.

Samareh holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and an Honours Bachelor of Child Development, bringing over 25 years of experience working with children during their formative years. She works with children, youth, and families navigating ADHD, anxiety, autism, attachment, mood disorders, and more, drawing on approaches including CBT, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, DBT, and ABA.

In this video, we sat down with Samareh to ask her five questions about child and youth therapy, her approach, and what it actually looks like to support a child through the therapeutic process.
We think you will love getting to know her πŸ’™

Toolkit Series | Meet Emine Kaya Bican

Emine is a mental health counsellor with a PhD in Psychology and over ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She offers sessions in English and Turkish and brings a wealth of knowledge in psychological intervention approaches and assessment.

In this week’s Toolkit Series, Emine walks us through the benefits of sensory fidget toys and how something so simple can make a difference for emotional regulation and stress relief.

Sometimes the most effective tools are the ones we least expect.

This Men’s Health Week, we want to talk about something that does not get enough attention.

Men are significantly less likely to seek mental health support, not because they need it less, but because the signs often go unrecognized, by others and by themselves. Societal expectations around masculinity have long made it difficult for men to acknowledge when they are struggling, let alone ask for help.

That needs to change.

If this video resonated with you or made you think of someone in your life, share it. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is start the conversation. πŸ’™

Most people know to see a doctor after a car accident. But the emotional and psychological impact often goes unaddressed, sometimes for months or even years.

Anxiety, flashbacks, fear of getting back behind the wheel, sleep disruption, and emotional overwhelm are all recognized responses to the trauma of a collision. And they deserve the same attention as a physical injury.

If you or someone you know has been in an accident and is struggling, support is available. Swipe to learn more about our MVA counselling program. πŸ‘‰

May is coming to a close but mental health doesn’t take a month off.

If this month opened something up for you, a question, a realization, or a quiet feeling that you want more support, we hope you carry that with you into June and beyond.

We are here all year round.

Sometimes you just need a space that is entirely yours.

That is what individual therapy can offer. And it looks different for everyone who walks through the door.

Toolkit Series is back. This time, Ghazal is walking us through something deceptively simple and surprisingly powerful.

We spend so much energy trying to fix how we feel. But sometimes the most valuable thing we can do is just notice. Name it. And let it be there without needing to change it.

That is the practice. And breathwork is one of the ways we get there.

Try it with her.

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Our team at BLCC wanted to show up for this day.

Discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity causes real, measurable harm to mental health. And every person in the 2SLGBTQI+ community deserves access to care that is safe, affirming, and free of judgment.
That is the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.

On International Family Day, we’re reminded that the relationships we hold closest to us shape so much of our emotional lives.

Whether those relationships bring you joy, complexity, or something in between, you don’t have to navigate them alone. Support is always available.
