Some delicious goodies from the Elevate the Rainbow market that happened on Thursday, June 18th. It was a lovely event for q***r business owners to meet potential customers and each other. I got to meet SO many fellow q***r business owners. Our businesses are resistance. Hosted by Canadian Q***r Chamber of Commerce (CQCC) Ontario Q***r Chamber of Commerce and The Pink Pages Directory

(Most of them have bites because I couldn’t resist 🤭)

Today is Trans Day of Visibility!

This day exists because all two-spirit, trans, non-binary and gender diverse folks deserve to be visible, alive, loved, respected, accepted and so so so much more!

This (and every day moving forward), please support trans folks by:
Uplifting trans voices
Listening to trans people
Getting curious about the trans experience
Learning about trans elders
Challenging your biases and internalized transphobia and cisnormativity
Buying from trans businesses
Signing petitions supporting trans rights
Sending mail to your representative/MP/MPP about trans rights
Watching movies by trans artists
Reading books by trans authors
Telling your trans friends, family, partners that you love them
Advocating for trans people

What did I forget? What else are you doing to support and love trans people?

If you’re struggling with living in a transphobic society or you want to talk about challenges surrounding supporting someone trans, one of our therapists, Alex T (he/they), is offering three free therapy sessions.

Also if anyone knows who made this beautiful trans Joy quilt, please tell me so I can credit them! I snapped this pic while in the Trans March in 2025.

Repeating “it’s just a skit” to myself over and over again. But for some of us, this is more than just a skit. This is our reality. And it’s a painful reality. It hurts because we want to connect but we want to have autonomy and agency when we do so. We want to have choice. Our choices are too threatening to our emotionally immature parents because they:

❌Are rigid and single-minded
❌Have low stress tolerance
❌Do what feels best (to them)
❌Are subjective, not objective
❌Have little respect for differences
❌Are egocentric
❌Are self-preoccupied and self-involved
❌Are self-referential, not self-reflective
❌Like to be the center of attention
❌Promote role reversal
❌Have low empathy and are emotional insensitive

If you’re wanting help as you navigate relationships with your emotionally immature parents, please reach out! Our team would be happy to support you! It’s not your fault and you don’t have to do this alone.
