Some seasons of waiting are not short.

We may wait for relief, healing, clarity, provision, repair, an opening, or a kind of peace that has not arrived yet.

And when waiting becomes long, the heart can grow tired quietly.

The story of Zakariya عليه السلام reminds us that a du’a does not lose its value because the answer has not appeared yet.

He kept bringing his need to Allah, not because waiting was easy, but because he knew where his heart belonged.

He said:

“My Lord, do not leave me alone, while You are the best of inheritors.”
Surah Al-Anbiya 21:89

A short du’a.
A deep need.

And there is a gentle reminder in it:

Delay is not always rejection.
Silence is not always absence.
Waiting does not mean you have been forgotten.

Sometimes waiting becomes the place where the heart is softened.
Sometimes the prayer you have carried for years is still held with Allah in a way you cannot yet see.

If your heart has been waiting for something, let your waiting be gentle.

Do not shame yourself for feeling tired.
Do not mistake your heaviness for weak faith.
And do not stop returning to Allah with what your heart still carries.

A heart that waits with Allah is never empty.

Hijri New Year Mubarak.

A new year is not always about becoming a completely new person.

Sometimes it is an invitation to return gently.

To return to Allah.
To return to what steadies the heart.
To return to the parts of ourselves that need care, honesty, and healing.

As 1448 AH begins, may this year bring sakinah to your heart, barakah to your days, and gentleness to what you carry.

May it be a year of clarity after confusion.
Healing after heaviness, and nearness to Allah in both ease and difficulty.

From all of us at Ar’Rifqa Counselling, we wish you a blessed Hijri New Year.

Grief does not always look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like carrying on with your day while your heart feels tired.
Sometimes it is the weight of waiting, distance, disappointment, or prayers that seem unanswered.

The story of Ya‘qub عليه السلام reminds us that deep sorrow and deep faith can exist together.

Allah tells us:

“And his eyes became white from grief…”
Surah Yusuf 12:84

Ya‘qub عليه السلام did not pretend that he was unaffected.

He felt the pain of separation.
He carried longing.
He grieved deeply.

And still, he turned to Allah:

“I only complain of my suffering and grief to Allah.”
Surah Yusuf 12:86

His story offers a gentle reminder:

Sabr does not mean denying your emotions.
It does not mean forcing yourself to appear strong.
It does not mean feeling guilty because your heart still aches.

Sometimes sabr is staying connected to Allah while making space for what you feel.

Sometimes it is continuing to hope, even when the waiting feels long.

Sometimes it is accepting that healing may not happen all at once.

Your pain does not mean your faith has failed.

And needing support does not make you weak.

If this reflection feels close to home, you do not have to carry it alone.

Sometimes, hardship can feel so heavy that the heart begins to wonder:

Where is relief? Where is comfort? Has Allah left me alone in this?

The story of Maryam عليها السلام reminds us that feeling overwhelmed does not mean you have been abandoned.

In one of the most vulnerable moments of her life, Maryam عليها السلام was alone, exhausted, and in pain.

Then came words of comfort:

“So do not grieve.”Surah Maryam 19:24

Her hardship was real but so was Allah’s mercy.

The pain was not denied. The difficulty was not minimized. Comfort reached her in the middle of it.

Sometimes, emotional strength does not mean pretending that everything is fine.

Sometimes it means allowing yourself to feel what is heavy, turning to Allah with honesty, and accepting support when you need it.

Your difficult moment is not the whole story.

Relief may not always arrive in the form you expected. But mercy can still find you there.

If this reflection feels close to home, you do not have to carry it alone.

Musa عليه السلام is mentioned more than any other prophet in the Qur’an, often noted as around 136 times.

And maybe one reason his story reaches so many hearts is because it feels deeply human.

He felt fear.

Allah says:

“So he felt fear within himself.”
Surah Taha 20:67

Fear was present.
But so was faith.

His fear did not make him weak.
And it did not stop him from moving forward.

When Allah chose him, Musa عليه السلام did not pretend to be ready.

He made du’a:

“My Lord, expand for me my chest.
And ease for me my task.
And untie the knot from my tongue.”
Surah Taha 20:25–27

He asked Allah for capacity.

That is such a tender reminder:
You do not need to feel fully confident to take the next step.
You can ask Allah to help you carry it.

And when Musa عليه السلام made a serious mistake, he turned back to Allah:

“My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me.”
Surah Al-Qasas 28:16

One mistake did not erase his future.

His story reminds us that sincere return, honesty, and humility still matter.

Even when he stood before Fir’awn, Allah told him:

“Speak to him with gentle speech.”
Surah Taha 20:44

Strength is not always loud.
Sometimes strength looks like restraint.
Sometimes it looks like softness with control.

And at the sea, when his people feared they were overtaken, Musa عليه السلام said:

“No. Indeed, my Lord is with me; He will guide me.”
Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:62

That is tawakkul.

Not denying the danger.
Not pretending the pain is not real.
But trusting Allah within the hardship.

Maybe that is why the story of Musa عليه السلام feels so close.

Fear.
Responsibility.
Mistakes.
Du’a.
Leadership.
Gentleness.
Tawakkul.

And still, Allah honored him.

Being human does not disqualify you from being loved, guided, or restored by Allah.

If this reflection feels close to home, you do not have to carry it alone.
