Exploring Tinus Smits’ Archetypal Remedies for Autism & Other Developmental Challenges

What if we could look beyond the diagnosis and begin to understand the
deeper developmental pattern of the individual child?

Join the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine for a fascinating full-day online class with Joy Burlton, exploring the groundbreaking work of Tinus Smits (1946–2010) and his influential book, Inspiring Homeopathy.

Smits devoted much of his later work to understanding children with
autism and other developmental challenges. Rather than focusing solely

🔬 Exploring Homeopathy in UTI Treatment: What Does the Research Tell Us?

The Canadian Coalition for Homeopathy is pleased to welcome Dr. Deepti Singh for an important presentation examining individualized homeopathic treatment for acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common infectious conditions worldwide. At the same time, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has become a significant global healthcare concern, creating an increasing need for rigorous research into different approaches to care.

Dr. Singh will present findings from a randomised comparative pilot trial examining treatment outcomes in patients with uncomplicated UTIs who received individualized homeopathic treatment compared with conventional medical treatment.

She also serves as Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy and has published extensively and presented her work nationally and internationally.

What is a Constitution? 🌿

In homeopathy, your constitution refers to the broader picture of who you are—your physical tendencies, emotional patterns, temperament, sensitivities and the ways you typically respond to your environment.

A homeopath may look at things such as:

Are you naturally hot or chilly?
How is your energy and sleep?
What are your fears or emotional tendencies?
Are there foods you strongly crave or dislike?
How do you respond to stress?
Are there patterns that repeatedly show up in your health?

These characteristics help create a more complete picture of the individual, rather than focusing on one isolated complaint.

This is also where you may hear the term “constitutional remedy”—a remedy selected in traditional homeopathic practice based on a person’s broader, characteristic pattern.

Your constitution is the bigger picture—not just what you’re experiencing today, but the patterns that help describe you as a whole.

Gelsemium sempervirens 🌼

Prepared from yellow jasmine, Gelsemium sempervirens has a characteristic picture of heaviness, weakness and dullness in homeopathic materia medica.

Physically, the picture may include marked fatigue, trembling, heavy eyelids, muscular weakness and a general feeling of sluggishness or drowsiness.

Mentally and emotionally, Gelsemium is strongly associated with anticipatory anxiety, particularly before an important event, performance, examination or other ordeal. Rather than appearing restless or agitated, the person may feel weak, shaky, mentally dull or unable to act.

A classic Gelsemium pattern is anticipation accompanied by trembling, weakness, heaviness and mental dullness.

What is 30CH? 🌿

If you’ve ever picked up a homeopathic remedy, you’ve probably seen 30CH printed on the label.

But what does it actually mean?

30 → the number of preparation steps
C → centesimal, meaning each step uses a 1:100 ratio
H → Hahnemannian, referring to the preparation method developed by Samuel Hahnemann

For each step on the centesimal scale, 1 part of the previous preparation is combined with 99 parts diluent and then succussed (vigorously shaken).

That process is repeated 30 times to prepare a 30CH potency.

Once you understand the label, those little remedy tubes start making a lot more sense!
