Celiac disease is more than a food sensitivity—it's an autoimmune disease.
This topic is especially meaningful to me because my entire family lives with celiac disease. I've seen firsthand how profoundly it can affect health, quality of life, and the importance of getting the right diagnosis and support.
When someone with celiac disease consumes gluten, their immune system attacks the lining of the small intestine. Over time, this can damage the gut, impair nutrient absorption, and contribute to symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, fatigue, anemia, skin issues, headaches, and even neurological concerns. Some people have very few digestive symptoms, making diagnosis more challenging.
Healthy gut function is essential—not just for digestion, but for immune health, nutrient absorption, and overall well-being. Once diagnosed, a strict gluten-free diet is the only treatment, but healing the gut and addressing nutritional deficiencies often requires a comprehensive approach.
As a naturopathic doctor, I work with patients to support gut healing, optimize nutrition, reduce inflammation, and help them thrive after diagnosis.
If you're struggling with digestive symptoms, unexplained fatigue, or have a family history of celiac disease, don't ignore the signs. Your gut health matters. 🌿
