June is Brain Injury Awareness Month
A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an injury to the brain that can lead to troubles with memory, decreased mobility, and difficulties with social interactions. These challenges can impact all aspects of a person’s life and lead to decreased ability to perform tasks of everyday life and may also lead to feelings of isolation.
A physiotherapist can help with the impacts of a TBI by working on areas such as improving strength, balance, and vestibular function and providing strategies for fatigue management. Working together with a physiotherapist can lead to improvements in quality of life and increased independence after injury.
