Postpartum Recovery Food

Yes Postpartum Doulas cook in your home food for your recovery.

First, I recommend to my clients in their pre-visit to mark their favorite recipe books so I know which ones they want done.

I also recommend specific meals and types of foods that,
• Help their healing
• Maintains regular comfortable digestion
• Reduces inflammation
• Helps their immune defense system
• Regulates their hormones
• Provides important electrolytes
• Keeps them hydrated

At my in-person session June 13 in Burlington Ontario I will be discussing this in more detail. Click my linktr.ee in the bio for the link to register.

Postpartum Doula Tip

I had been one of those Moms-to-be who read the “What to Expect” book and attended the prenatal class in the hospital. BUT when I was rushed in the hospital and was told I needed an emergency c-section, I was shocked and unprepared for what that meant. What was my recovery going to look like?

My advice to all my clients during our pre-visits is even if you have a birth plan know what other approaches may need to be taken for a safe delivery for you and baby and prepare for a variety of postpartum outcomes.

If you are considering postpartum support, I would be happy to chat with you about your needs and how I support during your postpartum journey.

Postpartum Doula Scope of Practice

As a postpartum doula my job is to connect with many perinatal professionals within your community. This saves you time from having to find them yourself and provides you multiple options.

In this post I wanted to let you know how I met Lactation Consultant, Nicole who I am co-hosting with on “The First Week Postpartum: Feel Confident In Your Healing & Feeding Journey” and Psychotherapist, Julie who is facilitating with me two in-person events “Adjusting to Parenthood & Managing the Invisible Load.”

Both Nicole and Julie reached out to me via email wanting to share how they support families postpartum and interested in learning about my Postpartum Doula work.

I met both separately for coffee.

We agreed that it would be great to create events that would reach more families in Halton Region either prebirth or after birth.

We started brainstorming ideas and I am so excited to share with you in June what we have created.

I am grateful for these opportunities and the chance to connect with you!

What I Do When I Am Not "Doulaing"!

Sometimes I find parents often just want to talk about something non-baby related so I thought I would share what I do when I take off my postpartum doula hat.

For those in Ontario I hope you have a chance to take off your work hat and enjoy our long weekend.

Hi it is Sherri Phillips, I have been silent here for awhile because I have been a busy doula (more to come on that).

I thought I would begin by reintroducing the professional side of me. Plus I often get asked what do postpartum doulas do so this should explain that too.

Want to collaborate, looking for a speaker or expecting and considering a postpartum doula click the website link in the bio to connect.

Rescheduled - I am reposting because this weekend's event has been moved to March - see date in image. I will be speaking at 1pm.

Thank you, Jessica Brooker, Registered Physiotherapist at Guelph Ontario Eramosa Physiotherapy Associates for inviting me to participate as a speaker at this year’s PHAM Mom and Baby Palooza event. For tickets visit their Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/1579353206674742

So often in my practice as a Postpartum Doula my clients share the following floor tummy time challenges.
• My infant cries during tummy time on the floor.
• My infant spits up and I am worried that tummy time will cause more.
• There is so little time between feeding, changing, play, and sleep. How do I fit in tummy time.
• Getting down on the floor is hard for me.

At this PHAM event I will explain the importance of tummy time beyond being a developmental milestone and offer strategies to overcome challenges. Plus, I will demonstrate alternative positions to floor tummy time such as tummy-to-tummy, lap tummy time, and the tummy-down carry.

Let’s make tummy time enjoyable for you and your baby.
