A good first job can help shape the path ahead, and young people deserve meaningful opportunities to build skills, confidence and connections as they begin their careers.

Findhelp was proud to join United Way Greater Toronto, the City of Toronto, corporations, and community partners at the Youth Employment Celebration and launch of the Toronto Youth Employment Charter.

We were especially proud to see Findhelp student Anika Shaggi take part in the youth panel, where she shared her experience and perspective on the state of youth employment. Hearing directly from young people is essential to understanding the barriers they face and creating employment opportunities that reflect their needs and aspirations.

Thank you to United Way Greater Toronto, the City of Toronto and the Toronto Youth Employment Table for bringing young people, employers and community organizations together around a shared commitment to creating more equitable pathways to meaningful work. Thank you as well to MP Leslie Church, Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretaries of State for Labour, for Seniors, and for Children and Youth, and to the Minister of Jobs and Families, for joining us and underscoring the federal government’s commitment to meaningful youth employment.

Findhelp était fière de se joindre à Centraide du Grand Toronto, à la Ville de Toronto, à des corporations et à des partenaires communautaires à l’occasion de la Célébration de l’emploi des jeunes et du lancement de la Charte de l’emploi des jeunes de Toronto.

Nous étions particulièrement fiers de voir Anika Shaggi, étudiante chez Findhelp, participer à la table ronde des jeunes, où elle a partagé son expérience et son point de vue sur la situation actuelle de l’emploi des jeunes. Il est essentiel d’entendre directement les jeunes pour comprendre les obstacles auxquels ils font face et créer des possibilités d’emploi qui répondent à leurs besoins et à leurs aspirations.

Merci à Centraide du Grand Toronto, à la Ville de Toronto et à la Table de l’emploi des jeunes de Toronto d’avoir réuni des jeunes, des employeurs et des organismes communautaires autour d’un engagement commun visant à créer des voies d’accès plus équitables à un emploi valorisant. Merci également à la députée Leslie Church, secrétaire parlementaire des secrétaires d’État pour le Travail, pour l’Enfance et la Jeunesse, et pour les Aînés, et de la ministre de l’Emploi et des Familles (Personnes en situation de handicap), qui s’est jointe à nous et a souligné l’engagement du gouvernement fédéral à offrir aux jeunes des possibilités d’emploi valorisantes.

Our government has activated Ontario Corps to support communities affected by wildfires in northwestern Ontario. Ontario 211 has increased frontline capacity to help respond to non-urgent wildfire-related inquiries. By calling 2-1-1, Ontarians can connect with trained navigators 24/7 in more than 150 languages to access information, programs and services.

Over the past 96 hours, wildland fire crews, pilots, emergency responders, emergency management professionals and Ontario Corps volunteers have worked tirelessly to help keep communities safe. We also thank our Ontario Corps partners; GlobalMedic, Feed Ontario and the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC), for supporting reception centres and helping distribute food to evacuees.
