Stress shows up differently for everyone. Some people may feel tension in their jaw, neck, shoulders, back, hips, or chest. There’s no one way to manage stress, and many factors can play a role. Here are 5 manageable tips to help respond to your body’s stress:

1️⃣ Notice your body’s patterns. Without judgment or assumptions, take note of where you feel discomfort or tension in your body.

2️⃣ Move around. Try to avoid staying in one position for long periods of time. Even taking a quick walk to the kitchen or around the office can help break up periods of being stationary.

3️⃣ Find a relaxation practice that works for you. Breathwork and other relaxation techniques can help you feel grounded and give your mind a chance to slow down.

4️⃣ Explore massage therapy. If stress shows up as stiffness or muscle tension, massage therapy may be a helpful way to ease discomfort and support your body.

5️⃣ Build and lean into your support network. This might look like grabbing coffee with a friend, going for a walk with a loved one, or speaking with a mental health professional.

These tips are intended as a general guide and are not a diagnosis. For specific questions or concerns about your mental health and self-care, please consult a qualified professional.
