Most people don't realize this...

Your nervous system is constantly asking one question:

"Am I safe?"

It doesn't answer that question with your thoughts.

It answers it through your environment...
..the pace you're moving, conversations you're having, light entering your eyes, sounds around you, tension you're carrying, and the amount of time you spend connected to something real.

This is why so many people tell me they "can't relax." Either that or "I feel fine", amidst the body obviously being weighed down with hidden tension.

It's rarely because they're doing something wrong.

It's because their body hasn't received enough signals that it's safe enough to let go.

Here's something you can try today:

Go outside for just two minutes.

Leave your phone behind.

Notice five things you can see.
Four things you can hear.
Three things you can feel.

Take one slow breath in for four seconds.

Breathe out for six seconds.

Don't try to become calm.

Simply give your self evidence that, in this moment, you are safe.

Healing often doesn't begin with doing more, it begins with giving your body permission to stop preparing for danger.

That simple shift changes more physiology than most people realize.

High-dose IV vitamin C is one of the most discussed and misunderstood therapies in integrative oncology right now.

So what does the current evidence actually say?

I break down:

the latest research,
proposed mechanisms,
clinical findings,
and where HDIVC may fit within modern cancer care.

High-dose intravenous vitamin C (HDIVC) has become one of the most discussed integrative therapies in oncology over the past decade. But despite growing interest, there’s still a lot of confusion around what it actually does, and what the science truly supports. So where are we currently at in 202...

Cancer care is rarely one dimensional.

Different tools can support different parts of the healing journey.

STANDARD CANCER CARE focuses on directly targeting cancer cells; which does come with it's pros, and limitations.

INTEGRATIVE CANCER CARE focuses on cancer cells as well as supporting the terrain the cancer exists within:

the nervous system, inflammation, resilience, deeper health, recovery capacity, quality of life, and the body’s innate healing intelligence, to name a few.

This isn’t about fear.
And it isn’t about choosing sides.

This is about recognizing that healing is bigger than one pathway alone.

Sometimes the greatest shifts happen when we stop viewing the body as the enemy… and start supporting the conditions that allow it to function, adapt, heal, and recover more effectively.

When you’re ready to explore a more integrative, whole person approach alongside your current care, this is the work I support with patients every day.

Your nervous system is not just “part” of you. It is the trunk holding the entire tree together.

When the trunk is strong, responsive, adaptable, and connected, the branches, leaves, roots, and whole ecosystem can thrive together.

But when the nervous system becomes overloaded, dysregulated, stuck in survival, or chronically overwhelmed, the rest of the system begins to lose coherence too;

The mind and body struggles, healing slows, connection fades, energy drops.

Even though the system is still “functioning,” it may no longer be functioning optimally.

And importantly: A dysregulated nervous system is not a sign of weakness or failure. Often it is a system adapting exactly as it was designed to in response to chronic stress, overwhelm, trauma, inflammation, disconnection, or survival demands.

But survival is not the same as thriving.

You cannot build a deeply healthy life on top of a chronically dysregulated nervous system.

Support the trunk. Heal the root. Restore the whole.

Cancer changes more than the body.

It touches identity, safety, relationships, meaning, and the way a person experiences themselves and life.

My approach to cancer support is integrative, evidence informed, and deeply human.

For some people, that means support alongside conventional treatment. For others, it means helping rebuild after treatment ends.

And for some, it means exploring the deeper patterns that may shape health over time: chronic stress, emotional suppression, trauma, hyper-vigilance, disconnection from self, and the long-term physiology of survival.

Not from a place of blame.
From a place of curiosity, compassion, and healing.

I believe people deserve support that honours the whole person; body, mind, heart, and lived experience.

Wherever you are in your journey, you do not have to walk it alone.

Over the years working with people facing cancer, one of the things I have witnessed again and again is that it often brings a person to their knees.

Not only physically, but emotionally, existentially, humanly.

The illusion of control begins to crack.

While this space for many is deeply painful, it is also where I have sometimes witnessed profound shifts beginning to occur.

Not necessarily because someone “fights harder", but because, for the first time in a very long time, they stop fighting themselves.

There is a kind of surrender that can emerge there....as honesty, presence, and letting life become real again.

In that space, many people begin reconnecting with parts of themselves that have been buried beneath survival, pressure, fear, distraction, and noise for years.

I have seen moments of healing begin there that no supplement, protocol, or treatment alone can fully explain.

It is not because 'mindset' cures, nor that suffering should ever be romanticized.

It's because beneath it all, many begin to find and reconnect to the true healing pieces of themselves they lost long ago.

There was a time when quiet was normal.

Driving somewhere without reaching for a phone. Sitting outside without distraction. Walking through the woods without needing stimulation every few seconds.

Now many people feel uncomfortable the moment silence appears.

So we fill it; scrolling, noise, music, schedules, anything.

Over time, the nervous system forgets what true stillness feels like.

And when the brain never fully downshifts, the body ends up carrying the burden: more anxiety, more exhaustion, poorer sleep, reduced resilience.

Nature gently interrupts that pattern.

Not because it is magic (well it is!), but because it gives the nervous system something most people rarely experience anymore:

Space.

Space to breathe. Space to slow down. Space to feel present again.

This is your reminder to step outside for a while.

Not to optimize yourself. Not to fix yourself.

Just to be 🌿

One of the things I see often in practice is people blaming themselves for not “getting better” fast enough.

But many are trying to recover while carrying an enormous physiological burden underneath the surface.

Stress physiology.
Poor recovery capacity.
Nervous system overload.
Exhaustion.
Treatment burden.
Sleep disruption.
Depleted reserves.

All of these influence how the body adapts, repairs, and heals.

Sometimes the conversation needs to shift from:

“What’s wrong with this person?”

to:

“What has this person’s system been carrying for far too long?”

Supporting healing is not only about targeting disease.

It’s also about supporting the body’s capacity to recover, adapt, regulate, and restore itself along the way.
