May filled with flowers 🌺 💐
May always starts out with a bang with Marathon weekend! The half was just about all I was willing to push through this year!
Mami and I took a trip out to Gabriola island on our quests to see as many islands as we can! We learned how to make mozzarella and hung out with the lamas.
I threw my back out so was confined to forced rest. Only getting back to hiking and finally running again in these last couple of weeks.

I was able to hit up our local mountain nearly once every week this month, the goal going forward!

May is the gateway to summer and the weekends are filling up fast with summer adventures!

As a nutritionist and a runner, there is nothing more important and impactful al than being well fuelled for my training and recovery.
When the mileage goes up so do all the snacks! Because if you’re not fuelling for your runs, what are you even doing?!

How are you fueling your recovery??

I’m so pumped for chocolate protein recovery mix! So delicious and easy to bring with you on the run to help your recovery. Just add water, shake and enjoy 30-60 mins post workout!

The holds such a special place in my heart! This was my tenth time running and every time I am left feeling fulfilled and inspired!

From sharing the weekend with the family at the expo, catching up with non-runner friends and rolling through the stunning race course, it’s a weekend to be remembered!
While no records or PBs we made, I was just so thrilled to be back and grateful to run again after my ankle injury last year.

Thank you to all the volunteers, cheer stations, friends and family along the way. 💕

Next up: ultra training for !! But first I got get my back sorted!!!

You are all amazing! It was a hot one and while a beautiful day and great way enjoy the amazing views on course, the heat was definitely something to contend with.

Please, please please, take the time to rest and recover this week and more. Don’t fall into the pressure of going out to run right away your whole body and all the systems need time to recover from your big effort!

BMO Race Day Tip: Drop Bags!

If you have things that you want/need at the finish line, make your drop bag up before you had to the expo!
You can only drop them off at the expo and NOT at the start line!
What I like to include in my drop bag:
🛍️ comfy shoes or sandals to let my toes breath
🛍️ spare/clean cloths to change into
🛍️ toiletries like wet wipes, deodorant, sunscreen, bandaids, zinc cream in case of chafing
🛍️ immediate recovery nutrition - this one by chocolate flavour!
🛍️ Water and electrolytes to replenish

Maybe not the best idea to go run the most beautiful trail race on the Sunshine Coast Trail the week before your half marathon!

Nearly spent more time on ferries than actually running but it was soooo worth it!
