Welcome to Pacifica, Kulbir!

We’re pleased to welcome Kulbir Gillan as Pacifica Treatment Centre’s new Manager of Finance.

Kulbir is a CPA with 16 years of accounting experience, specializing in the not-for-profit sector. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology in Accounting from BCIT.

Kulbir enjoys being actively involved in the organizations he works with, contributing to committees, working groups and staff initiatives. We’re excited to have him bring his experience and collaborative approach to the Pacifica team.

Outside of work, Kulbir is an avid Vancouver Canucks fan and, by his own admission, perhaps a little too passionate about cheering for the home team.

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the lives lost to overdose and toxic drugs, and the families, friends, and communities who carry those losses with them.

In British Columbia, far too many lives continue to be lost. Behind every statistic is a person, and behind every person are people who love them.

Today is also a reminder of the importance of reducing the stigma surrounding substance use. Stigma can make it harder to ask for help, to talk openly about substance use, and to access support when it is needed.

Overdose is preventable. Carry naloxone. Know how to recognize and respond to an overdose. Talk openly about substance use. And above all, remember the person.

One of the biggest barriers to addiction treatment is that many people simply cannot step away from work, family, caregiving responsibilities, or their community for several months.

PATH (Professional Addiction Treatment at Home) was developed for people who need more support than weekly counselling but cannot attend residential treatment.

PATH: Now Enrolling for June 17

At Pacifica Treatment Centre, we understand that accessing addiction treatment is not always straightforward. Work, family responsibilities, finances, stigma, and daily life commitments can all make it difficult to step away for residential care.

That’s why we created PATH, a 16-week virtual outpatient program designed to provide structured, professional addiction treatment from home.

PATH combines psychoeducation, process groups, and one-to-one counselling in a supportive virtual environment led by experienced clinicians. The program is designed for individuals seeking meaningful change while continuing to navigate everyday life and responsibilities.

The next cohort begins June 17, 2026.
Program cost: $7,500
Bursaries of up to 50% are available based on financial need.

Community Connections in Substance Use Conference 2026

Today, the Pacifica Treatment Centre team is attending the 3rd Annual Community Connections in Substance Use Conference, hosted by .

The conference brings together service providers, advocates, people with lived experience, and community organizations for important conversations around substance use, recovery, stigma reduction, and collective care.

Events like this highlight the importance of collaboration, shared learning, and community-based approaches to care. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with others working to strengthen support systems for individuals and families impacted by substance use and mental health challenges.

Struggling with alcohol or substance use, but can’t step away from work or family?

PATH is a 16-week, therapist-led virtual addiction treatment program you can do from home.
- 4 structured group sessions per week
- 1 individual counselling session
- Ongoing support over 16 weeks

The next group starts on April 22.

Cost is often the biggest barrier to this kind of support. For this intake, we do have bursaries and payment plans available to help make it more accessible.
