[National AccessAbility Week]

Access to quality care shouldn't depend on your postal code.

People living with spinal cord injury in rural, remote, and underserved communities can face extra challenges accessing specialized care and specialized care and rehabilitation services.

Through clinical education, knowledge exchange, and partnerships across Canada, Praxis supports efforts to strengthen SCI expertise beyond major urban centres helping more people access quality care closer to home.

Accessibility starts with evidence.

During National AccessAbility Week, we're recognizing the role of research and data in creating a more accessible future for people living with spinal cord injury.

By connecting data, researchers, clinicians, and people with lived experience through national initiatives such as the Praxis-led National SCI Registry , we help generate evidence that improves care, informs decision-making, and supports meaningful change across Canada.

Accessibility includes access to better knowledge and better outcomes.

AI chatbots are becoming a go-to source for health information, including for spinal cord injury . But how reliable are they?

Praxis recently contributed to a review of 9 studies examining how large language models respond to SCI-related questions. The findings showed promise, AI can help people access information faster, but the results aren’t always accurate or easy to understand. In many cases, responses were written at a college reading level and sometimes included misleading or potentially harmful advice.

This work highlights the need for stronger research and evaluation methods so people can better trust the information AI tools provide about SCI.
