A “normal” ultrasound can feel reassuring.
But it can also feel incredibly confusing when your periods are still irregular, your cravings feel intense, your skin or hair has changed, or your body simply doesn’t feel like it used to.
One of the biggest misconceptions about PCOS/PMOS is that you must have “cysts” on your ovaries for it to be part of the conversation.
You don’t.
When I’m assessing someone for PCOS, I’m not looking at the ultrasound in isolation. I’m looking at the pattern your body is showing us. Your cycle, ovulation, androgen-related symptoms, insulin regulation, and the changes you’ve noticed over time all matter.
Because PCOS is more than an ultrasound finding.
It is a hormonal and metabolic picture. Understanding how those pieces connect can help us make much more sense of your symptoms.
So if you were told, “Your ultrasound is clear, so it can’t be PCOS,” but you still feel like something isn’t adding up, there may be more worth exploring.
