Being a yoga teacher is a very different journey. For me, yoga is a lifelong devotion. A devotion to Shiva, and through Him, a devotion to becoming more aware of myself.

The hardest part of this path is not the practice itself. It is returning to the same environment every day the same labels, assumptions, opinions and expectations without allowing them to shape who you are.

Sometimes people mistake folded hands for weakness, kindness for naivety, or silence for a lack of understanding. They don’t realize that awareness allows you to see far more than you choose to react to.

Every interaction becomes part of the practice. Every judgment becomes an opportunity to let go of the ego. Every difficult moment becomes another invitation to return to yourself. That, to me, is yoga.

So I continue to bow not because I don’t see what is happening around me, but because I pray to remain devoted to my own transformation rather than distracted by someone else’s perception of me.

If you are walking this path too, I see you.

International Day of Yoga 2026 🌿

The longer I walk this path, the more I realize that yoga is far more than a physical practice. It is a way of relating to life itself.

It teaches us to remain steady through uncertainty, to stay open when circumstances ask us to close, and to find balance amidst constant change. Over time, the practice quietly moves beyond the mat and begins to shape the way we think, respond, and live.

In a world that celebrates doing more, yoga gently reminds us of the value of being present.

I am deeply grateful to the Consulate General of India, Vancouver, for the opportunity to guide people and be part of this year’s International Day of Yoga celebrations. It was heartening to see people from diverse backgrounds come together in the spirit of health, harmony, and connection.

May we continue moving from restlessness to awareness, from division to unity, and from striving to presence.

🙏🕉️🤍

Some mornings begin with a checklist.

Mine begins with gratitude. 🙏

Before the students arrive, before the movement begins, there is a quiet moment of preparation.

Cleaning the space.
Rolling out the mat.
Taking a breath.
Offering a prayer.

In India, we are taught to bow to what supports us. My yoga mat becomes a reminder of that wisdom.

Because yoga doesn’t begin with the first pose.

It begins with presence.

Neena attended my class once or twice initially and then disappeared for a while.

One day she stopped me while I was leaving and shared that she had been struggling with constant heaviness and thumping sensations in her head. I simply told her, “Don’t worry… come back to class and see if it makes any difference.”

Since then, she has shown up consistently with so much trust, warmth, and openness 🤍

Watching people slowly reconnect with calmness, strength, and themselves again is one of the most meaningful parts of this journey 🌿✨

The baby me 👶 This was 4 years ago, when I was recovering from a back injury.

Honestly, it was one of the hardest phases of my life.
For someone constantly driven to move, achieve, and stay active… suddenly even lifting my phone caused pain.

And when your body slows down, your mind begins questioning everything your strength, your future, your control over life itself.

That phase changed me deeply.

It taught me surrender.
Not helplessness… but surrender to time, to life, to what Sikhi calls Hukam the divine order, the flow beyond our personal control.

I realized how tightly I was trying to control life, and how exhausting that truly was.

Maybe some phases are not here to break us, but to soften us, humble us, and redirect us inward.

If you’re going through a difficult phase right now, know this:
sometimes life is not punishing you it’s shaping you.

Trust the process. You will come out stronger 🤍

Ancient yogis understood it. Science is finally catching up.

Your breath is more than air it influences your energy, emotions, nervous system, and the way you experience life.

I used to think I had to “think” my way out of stress and anxiety. But real change began when I learned to slow down and breathe consciously.

Since then, I’ve felt:
✨ calmer mentally
✨ more grounded physically
✨ better energy and focus
✨ a deeper connection with myself

Different traditions call it different things prana, qi, life force. But the message remains the same:

Your breath has power 🤍
