More energy isn't just about feeling less tired. It's about having greater capacity for life.

For years, fatigue limited how much I could exercise. My focus wasn't simply on pushing harder—it was on improving my cellular health so that my body could tolerate exercise.

Over time, I gradually increased my training. Now I'm running and strength training consistently, and something interesting has happened...

The exercise itself is now giving me more energy.

I'm noticing:
✔️ Better recovery
✔️ Lower resting heart rate
✔️ Improving HRV
✔️ More capacity to do the things I enjoy after my workouts—not less.

Sometimes we think we need more energy before we can exercise. My experience has been that, once your body is supported appropriately, exercise becomes part of what creates more energy.

It really can become a positive upward spiral.

Movement isn't just about living longer. It's about having more life in your years.

Recovery doesn't begin when the workout ends—it's part of the workout.

After a run, I try to be intentional about helping my body recover. Over the years, these are some of the practices I've personally found most helpful:

👣 Grounding (earthing): A few minutes barefoot on the grass helps me slow down, reconnect with nature, and has become one of my favorite post-run recovery rituals.

⚡ PEMF: I often spend time on my pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) mat after exercise as part of my recovery routine.

đź’§ Molecular hydrogen (Hâ‚‚): I'll often inhale Hâ‚‚ gas after a run as another tool I find supports my recovery.

🥛 Protein: This one has the strongest evidence. Getting adequate protein soon after exercise helps support muscle repair, recovery, and adaptation.

Recovery isn't just about reducing soreness. It's when your body adapts to the stress you've placed on it and comes back stronger.

The better we recover, the more energy we have—not just for our next workout, but for the rest of our lives.

Recovery isn't one-size-fits-all. These are some of the tools that work well for me. The best recovery plan is one that's personalized to your body, your goals, and your health.

What recovery practices have made the biggest difference for you? I'd love to hear what's worked in your experience.

Some of the most powerful ways to increase our energy don't come in a bottle or a prescription.

As a longevity physician, I talk a lot about sleep, exercise, nutrition, and metabolic health. But there's another pillar that deserves just as much attention: genuine human connection.

The right people, music, laughter, movement, and shared experiences can leave us feeling more energized than when we arrived.

Rose Disco this past weekend was a wonderful reminder that health isn't just about preventing disease—it's about intentionally creating a life that gives us energy.

Sometimes, one afternoon of joy is good medicine.

When people think of longevity medicine, they often think of advanced testing, supplements, or the latest therapies. While those have their place, the foundation of personalized longevity medicine is lifestyle.

One of the most powerful interventions we have is exercise—but the key is dosing it correctly. The right type, intensity, frequency, and recovery should be individualized, just like any prescription.

Looking around this group, it was impossible not to notice some truly remarkable physical transformations over the recent past. They are a wonderful reminder that when lifestyle is personalized, consistent, and sustainable, it really does work.

My HRV has been steadily improving, and I’ve been thinking about what actually drove it.

For me, it likely comes down to something fairly unglamorous: getting back to consistent movement after bilateral meniscal injuries and surgery.

There was a long stretch where running simply wasn’t possible. Now I’m running twice a week again, and doing two strength sessions weekly.

That combination—tolerable load, repeated consistently—seems to have shifted things more than any “optimization” strategy.

From a physiology standpoint, it’s a reminder that autonomic resilience often follows restored function: capacity first, metrics second.

Sometimes the best biohack is just getting back to what your body was designed to do.

More than two dozen studies found that patients taking the drugs showed lower risks of developing cancer, better survival, and improved responses to some treatments.

Case Study

A woman in her early 50s came to me struggling with menopausal weight gain, brain fog, low mood, aches and pains, and IBS.

Today, she's pain-free, at her ideal weight, thinking clearly, energetic, and thriving.

How did we get there?

There was no magic bullet. We addressed multiple root causes with a personalized approach that included comprehensive hormone optimization, thyroid support, low-dose naltrexone, BPC-157, and targeted lifestyle interventions.

The key takeaway? There is no one-size-fits-all protocol. Every recommendation I make is personalized and based on an individual's symptoms, history, goals, and testing results.

You don't have to accept feeling unwell as a normal part of aging.
