Hypermobility update! ❤️

We’re so happy to be expanding our hypermobility care at Rae Physiotherapy & Pilates 🎉

From September, Mahan and Emma will be offering physiotherapy for hypermobility, symptomatic hypermobility and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), following additional training in this area.

Kim, Rae Physiotherapy’s owner, has worked with hypermobile presentations for 15 years and also lives with hEDS herself. Her in-person waitlist is currently closed, but you can find her education and online work at Kim Rae Jackson | Hypermobile Physio. Her coaching programme The Hypermobile Hypermind Map is a 12 week programme for hypermobile women and you can book a call to see if it’s a good fit through her KRJ site. ❤️

Appointments with Mahan and Emma are now live to book through Jane.

We also continue to offer physiotherapy for pelvic health, concussion, musculoskeletal injuries, Clinical Pilates, IMS/needling and more.

🧠 Now offering concussion care at Rae Physiotherapy!

We’re excited to share that Emma is now offering concussion assessment and rehabilitation at the clinic.

Concussions can affect much more than just the head. Symptoms can include headaches, dizziness, balance changes, neck pain, visual symptoms, sensitivity to light or noise, fatigue, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, nausea, sleep changes and changes in mood.

Concussion rehab starts with understanding what is contributing to your symptoms. Emma’s assessment may look at areas including the cervical spine, balance, vestibular and oculomotor systems, exercise tolerance and the autonomic nervous system.

From there, treatment is individualized and may include education, symptom-guided movement, vestibular or visual rehabilitation, neck treatment and a gradual return to work, exercise, sport and the activities that matter to you.

And if your concussion wasn’t recent, it’s not “too late” to seek help. Persistent post-concussion symptoms can still respond to appropriate assessment and rehabilitation months or even years after the original injury.

📍 Concussion appointments with Emma Gerrard PT. are now available at Rae Physiotherapy & Pilates in Vancouver.

It’s been a minute since our last post — we’ve been busy behind the scenes at the clinic.

This year, our clinic owner Kim has shifted her clinical focus toward her long-standing passion: helping people understand and manage hypermobility. And the whole Rae Physio team is here to support you.

So, what is hypermobility?
Hypermobility simply means joints move beyond the average expected range. Some people are flexible and symptom-free.

But when hypermobility is linked with pain, instability, fatigue, or repeated injuries, it may be classified as Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD).

If specific diagnostic features are present, this can also fall under hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) — a genetic connective tissue condition.

Examples that may contribute to an hEDS diagnosis include:

• Generalised joint hypermobility (Beighton score)
• Recurrent joint instability, subluxations, or dislocations
• Chronic musculoskeletal pain
• Skin differences such as softness, stretchiness, or easy bruising
• Family history of similar features
• Gut and autonomic issues

Hypermobility exists on a spectrum. Assessment looks at control, stability, and whole-body function — not just flexibility.

If this sounds familiar, we’re here to help guide you. ❤️

New Year, thank you!❤️

As we step into a new year, I just want to say thank you — truly. Thank you for trusting Rae Physio with your body, your time, and your healing.

This work is never about quick fixes or perfect routines. It’s about learning to listen, rebuild trust, and move forward in ways that actually support your life. Watching so many of you do that — gently, imperfectly, and with real courage — is something I never take for granted.

As we head into this next chapter, our focus remains the same: thoughtful care, honest conversations, and movement that meets you where you are.

Thank you for being here.
We’re so grateful to walk into the new year with you.
