Great to see the Transplant Ambassador Program (TAP) continuing to grow and reach more communities across Canada!

TAP began as part of Can-SOLVE CKD’s Living Donor Kidney Transplantation research project and has since grown into a national, volunteer-led initiative connecting people through lived experience.

We're two weeks away! Join Can-SOLVE CKD on September 24 for Putting EDI-A into Practice: Lessons and Strategies for More Inclusive Research, a webinar exploring how equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility (EDI-A) principles can be put into practice in research environments.

Through complementary researcher and patient partner perspectives, Keila Turino Miranda and Javiera Navarrete will explore practical questions around accessibility, communication, patient partnership, and meaningful engagement. Drawing on Can-SOLVE CKD's EDI-A reflection process and "A Practical Guide to Inclusive Research," they'll share lessons learned, common challenges, and strategies research teams can consider in their own work.

🔹 Keila Turino Miranda, Researcher — Keila has experience in EDI-A and s*x and gender research and led Can-SOLVE CKD's network-wide EDI-A audit.

🔹 Javiera Navarrete, Patient Partner — Javiera is a member of Can-SOLVE CKD's Patient Governance Council and EDI-A Committee, bringing both lived and research experience to advancing meaningful inclusion in patient-oriented research.

Researchers want to hear from people living with advanced chronic kidney disease.

A research team is conducting an online survey to better understand people's experiences and needs when deciding whether to share or conceal their CKD diagnosis.

People living with stage 4 or 5 CKD in Canada are invited to participate. Findings will help inform resources co-created with lived-experience partners to support people navigating these decisions.

New research is shaping the future of kidney care in Canada.

Together, these studies highlight opportunities to better understand barriers to kidney transplantation, improve how transplant outcomes are predicted, and learn how treatment practices are changing for people with kidney disease.

How do we help keep research responsive to patient priorities as it moves closer to implementation?

At the 2026 ROCKeT Annual Reviews, patient partners, researchers, and Can-SOLVE CKD team members came together to assess progress across the network’s nine Phase 2 research projects.

By bringing scientific and lived experience together, the annual reviews help research teams strengthen their work, identify opportunities for improvement, and prepare for implementation.

Dialysis affects more than physical health.

We’re pleased to share Coping With and Adjusting to Dialysis, a new patient-facing mental health care pathway developed through Mind the Gap, a Can-SOLVE CKD research project focused on addressing mental health care gaps for people receiving hemodialysis.

Co-designed with patients, researchers, and health-care providers, the pathway provides information and resources to support people receiving dialysis as they navigate their emotional well-being, cope and adjust to treatment, and talk with their healthcare team.

Patient partnership has been central to Mind the Gap, helping the research team identify mental health priorities and develop approaches that reflect the experiences and needs of people receiving hemodialysis.
