Hiii hii how’s your Sunday going? ⛅️ I realized it wasn’t a good day for work this morning because I woke up drained but decided to make myself do work anyways which ended up in Carla feeling absolutely overwhelmed and annoyed so us girls went on a rainy 2 hour adventure in the woods with some music and got muddy 🐾🐾 and then came and made some chickpea curry so we’re feeling about 68% better! 🎈 🎈

I think that I realized I am absolutely loving this ‘out of screen time for the day’ feature on my phone (even if sometimes I just move to Netflix when I’m out of screen time) because it’s probably been the only thing in the past many (many) years that has forced me to shut off my email and calendar (and whatever else I decide I need to be doing until midnight) at a certain time, you know? 🍕 Normally I would set a time limit for myself ‘no email after 10pm Carla’ but I’m basically queen of ignoring people and no rules so I would never listen to my screen time rule, and then I’d be exhausted and cycle would repeat, but something about your phone telling you lights out is so comforting, or what? 😂 don’t get me wrong, I also love that I can ignore it in the case I ‘need to finish an email or put something in my calender’ as if my life depended on it, but I do appreciate the reminder to shut off the email 💕

I found that for the past month or so, I was not extremely motivated to try new recipes and my motivation for creativity seemed minimal, but with my work boundaries starting to come into play, I might be feeling more calm and excited to try new things. 🍜🧇I want to try to cook different recipes from around the world. Something about cultural dishes and food from our roots (like we’re all baby trees) 🌲 makes me happy. Happy exploring for you tonight!! Whether it’s in the rain or in the kitchen ☔️ 🍲

Hi hii guten Tag!!!! ✌️ How’s your Thursday?? I’m over here thinking about relationships, including the relationships we have with our food + bodies! 💕💕 I love this idea of how to continue to be comfortable with your body or get comfortable with your body as it changes, you know? Because I’ve noticed, whether it’s working in obesity management or diabetes in pregnancy or just about my own body at different times of the month, that there can be a variety of different changes in our bodies which can have more of an impact on ourselves than we realize, you know? 🥨🥨

I had a dream a few nights ago that somebody told me my hair was really dry and I felt a little bit self-conscious about that dream 😆 because obviously the appearance of my hair was (for whatever reason) something I was thinking about which maybe sounds silly but in a lot of ways is reality because our appearance can have such an impact on our confidence and it’s really easy to blame yourself or your lifestyle or habits for being bloated or having dry hair instead of being ok that your body changes, while understanding the many factors that contribute to these planned (or unplanned) changes. 🙏🥰🥛

And on the topic of getting comfortable with your body as it may change is something else that I’m super passionate about- figuring out why we eat the way we do, why we choose the foods we do, and why we exercise, because while I believe there can be a variety of different reasons that influence all those behaviours, I’m really passionate about figuring out how our main factor for these choices is because we enjoy it. 🥳🥞 We eat foods that we enjoy, we do things that we enjoy; things that allow us to bond and create and explore food and our bodies 🥰!!! Are you creating anything tonight? Meals? Moves? New flavours?💋🎂

Happpppy Sunday!!!🥰
Mims and I have had quite the morning which started off with jumping around in rain puddles (one of our favorite activities), eating some food and then while mims naps, I'm doing some work.🥕🥕 We got to talk with someone today about potassium, and how to decrease potassium in the diet. Not related to kidney disease but actually something we've already been talking about, higher potassium (indirectly) related to changes in some specific hormones???!!! Who knew?🍓

Potassium aside, we made these bars a week or so ago. I wanted to do something like a chocolate chip cookie bar.🍐🍏 Something that was easy to take on a hike... speaking of hikes, has anyone ever told you to "take a hike?" I used to think it was rude (and it probably was meant to be rude hahaha) but now if someone tells to take a hike it's like they're reading my mind, (thank you ✌).

So, while I get some work done and mims dreams of eating grass and cookies, I dream of a day where food is as enjoyable to everyone as it is to little Mia.🍕🍕 Where we eat to fill our bellies with happy feelings, with foods that make us feel good and taste delicious, where we feed our minds with thoughts of excitment and nourishment and flavors to come ♡ for now, mims and I start by filling our bellies with some omega 3's from the flaxseed in these bars.👌🥜 I crushed up some chickpeas, mixed in tahini, peanut butter, cinnamon, brown sugar (how you get so fly?), chocolate chips and ground flaxseed from and .

One trick to flaxseed?? It needs to be ground to absorb a lot of those vital nutrients so grind it up, pour it in, bake your bars and enjoy!💕💕💕

Hii sunshines 🌦🌤 Mia and I are kind of missing the sun to inspire us in our recipe creation adventures but hey, I guess rain can bring motivation for some difference recipes, right? Like, soups and warm winter salads and new pasta dishes?? Yum. 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️What recipes have you been playing around with lately?

I think recipe exploration and pairing different foods to reach certain nutrient goals or flavor profiles has always been a way that allows me to relax, take an escape and breathe (and don't we all need that sometimes??)🥨🥨

Sometimes I kind of miss the self-reflection that I feel like I constantly used to do; constantly reflecting on my day and the situations that came up and the interactions I had. 🍓🍍I feel like that gave me a really clear understanding how my body was feeling, and what types of foods or liquids or exercise I needed and I feel like at some point I've lost this intuitive (mindful?) way of being and I want to try to get back. You know? 🐥🐣 Maybe like so many things in life, the first part is just recognizing it and then making a plan and then we go from there. Happy Sunday Sunshines♡♡ 🌲

Happy Sunday Sunshines!!♡ 🌞🌞 it's 9am and the wheels in my brain are already turning at full speed so we all know how today's going to go 😂😂 how's your morning going?

What do you think of as self love? Like what do you notice you're doing when you're showing yourself lots of love??💕💕 Are you moving your body? Or eating the foods that you love? Or taking the time to slow down and smell the roses and explore new forrests and plants and make tasty treats (I made these chocolate protein peppermint bars a little while ago and they remind me how much I love food and pairing flavors!) 🤤🍋

Or maybe you're saying positive things to your body and yourself.🍄🍄 I think it's a lot easier for us to show love to others when we're showing ourselves love (yes, you've probably heard it before that you can't help others unless you're helping yourself!) But It's TRUE.🐶🦁 I notice it; I notice the days when I feel down and not showing myself much self love, that without even knowing it, I can be a little harsh to the people that I love. 🥨

I think it's probably about awareness too. It's not about having every day be perfect or thinking that we will be happy with ourselves every single day because as ideal as that is, I don't know that it's realistic to have everyday be perfect.. but I think being aware of our own self love, and trying to show ourselves love as often as we can is a good first step.🧘‍♀️ I think being aware of that will allow us to be careful and loving to those around us. ♡🌴🍓 eat tasty food, move in ways that make you feel good and do things that make you happppppy!!🐕🌻

Happy sunshine of a Tuesday!!♡ How's your week going so far? Too fast? Too slow?? Or just right 🥰🥰

I have been trying to do this new thing lately called being more open minded and I'm not saying I'm perfect at it because it takes time to work on things and change our habits, but I have to say WOW am I even learning a lot from it (if only I would have tried this earlier 😂). I'm learning a lot about other peoples beliefs, and why they have these beliefs. 🍏🍏I'm learning a lot about why we make the choices we do, why we listen to certain things or people and fear other opinions, and I'm learning a lot about my own beliefs and ideas, and how sometimes standing up for your beliefs can be SO IMPORTANT because sometimes you're so passionate about something that you can't help but SCREAM IT OUT TO THE WORLD but other times, being a little bit more quiet and using my ears instead of my loud opinions can be really helpful too, you know?? 🍓🍄

That's ok, some things we learn best in life by experiencing them instead of someone telling us what to do, right??🐕💕 I'm all for learning from mistakes, being curious, asking questions about why people choose to do the things they do. It's all about that self work and improvement and it's a long road ahead but hopefully it's a beautiful long road with lots to learn and experience and enjoy. What do you think? What's surprised you about when you put your opinions aside and try to see where someone else is coming from? 🌵🍍

Happy Sunday sunshines!! 🍐🍐It's been a while but I finally found some time to do some yoga (if you can call it yoga with 2 monkeys chasing you for kisses). What has your weekend been like? Busy? Relaxing??💕

It was really beautiful to have no plans this weekend. It's nice to have some time to stay home and clean and organize cupboards and closets (how is it that I haven't even lived here for a year, yet my cupboards have tubeberwear stacked so high that I'm scared to open the cupboard in fear everything will fall!!). It makes me feel calm and sane and peaceful when my apartment is in order. It's like a little stepping stone to get the rest of my life together (ha)😭😂

Lately I've been so busy on weekend, don't get me wrong I've been busy doing lots of exploring and learning but there's something so.... calming and serene about staying home, about exploring new recipes (I've had a few new lentil recipes I've wanted to try including LENTIL NACHOS (YUM) and also some fruit and nut bars!!!).🐕🐕 Any exciting non-plan things for you this weekend??? Hopefully whatever it was, it's something that makes you happy or feel accomplished or allows you to check something off your to-do list, or something that is fun, a little bit of a stress relief or spent surrounded by animals because besides food, animals are my happy place!♡ 🍓🥯
