Hi I’m Dr. Maya, I’m so happy to be joining the amazing team here at VNC! 👋

As some of you might have seen, Dr. Nicole is having a baby! 👶 I’ll be stepping in to fill her shoes while she relaxes at home in new motherhood.

You’ll still be getting the same amazing care you got from Dr. Nicole and I’ll be bringing in some treatments of my own.

I love working with herbal medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, and making lifestyle and dietary adjustments to give you a strong foundation for optimal health. In particular, I love working with women to balance hormones naturally and get to the root cause of their thyroid, digestive, skin and hormonal concerns. ✨

Looking forward to getting your health on track! 🌿

It’s Friday and it’s Earth Day!

We all know the importance of long term ecological sustainability. We have to work together to reduce our environmental impact and preserve the healthy longevity of our precious planet!

Reduce single use plastics, recycle and re-use items, support local businesses and farms, eat seasonally, be aware of electricity and water usage, compost, start your own garden, buy second hand, shop wisely, drive less, and educate yourself. These are just a few things, this list goes on. Be aware of what you are currently doing and how you can do better.

Happy Earth Day!!

New Blog Post! 5 Spring Gentle Detox Tips

It’s that time of year again. Spring! The weather is getting warmer and the days are longer. It’s a perfect time to help, support and encourage your body to lightly detox. Let’s talk about some gentle detox things you can incorporate into your daily routine.

5 simple things that can have a surprising impact on detoxifying.

Clean up your diet!

Eating fresh, home cooked, nourishing meals and snacks is a great start. Buying organic, clean, non processed, whole foods provides your body with healthy nutrients. The cleaner we eat the more we can cleanse. Try your best to avoid sugar, alcohol and caffeine. This reduces the toxic load we have to process.

Drinking lots of water

This is such a simple, refreshing way to help our body keep in balance and detox. Drinking water is essential for the kidneys and many other body functions. Our kidneys remove excess water from the bloodstream and release it in urine. You can even try adding some lemon to your water!

Dry Skin Brushing

Our skin is one organ of detoxification. It aids in elimination of toxic wastes from the body. Daily dry skin brushing can keep your skin healthy, vibrant, and efficient. It helps to cleanse the pores. Our Naturopathic doctors often recommend this for patients!

Saunas

Sitting in the sauna can be such a relaxing, satisfying feeling. Sweating is obviously another way our body/skin excretes toxins. The list of benefits from sauna use is endless. You may not know this but we have an infrared sauna! Our patients use it regularly year round.

Contrast Hydrotherapy

This is an ancient method of using different temperatures of water for therapeutic purposes. It can be done in the bath or shower very effectively. By activating our lymphatic system it encourages the release of toxins from the body. Cold water immersion increases production of mood-elevating neurotransmitters that can improve symptoms of depression and anxiety. Along with detoxifying this can help promote relaxation and improve your mood.

Try adding some of these different things to your daily self care routine. They may seem small but can have a beneficial impact on gentle spring detoxing! Our Naturopathic doctors always recommend these activities for patients. If you want to know more feel free to reach out. Happy Spring Cleansing!
