We are deeply saddened to learn the passing of Musqueam Knowledge Holder, Uncle Shane Pointe.

Uncle Shane was a cultural teacher at Kílala Lelum who generously and loving shared teachings including being Nutsamaht (we are one). As a front line worker himself, he believed in the work we did and was the one gifted us the name, "Kílala Lelum", hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ for "Butterfly House". He also supported us with the Naming Ceremony of Doris Fox Lelum and was one of the hearts of the Dream Canoe Family who also named our canoe, "stəqayeʔ" which means Spirit Of The Wolf in hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓.

We are forever grateful for his guidance at Kílala Lelum and share our deepest condolences to his family and the communities that he has touched with his kindness and love.

We're excited to share what we have planned for Cultural Wellness at Kílala Lelum this month.
