Have you heard of “Jello skin”?
Recently featured in a article (you can read it at the link below), this trend originated in Korea. The Korean beauty industry is really pushing the envelope with their focus on skin quality (music to our ears!).
“Jello skin” refers to skin that is plump, firm, and elastic… like a bowl of Jello! These are all features of youthful and healthy skin.
This trend is a little bit different than other skin trends you may have read about—”glass skin,” “dolphin skin,” or even “glazed donut skin”—that refer only to skin’s appearance. Jello skin is about skin quality and firmness. It requires that we take care of ourselves more holistically and not just topically.
So, what can we do to achieve Jello skin?
✨ Eat a balanced diet, which includes keeping sugar to a minimum, healthy level.
✨ Drink lots of water.
✨ Get lots of sleep.
✨ Stay out of the sun (the sun can break down important collagen and elastin fibres).
✨ Use the right topical skincare. Consider products that bind to water such as hyaluronic acid (HA) serums, or products that stimulate collagen and elastin fibres over time with growth factors, peptides, or topical vitamin A.
✨ Consider treatments designed to boost collagen within the skin. Some of our favourites include HA microdroplet injections, microneedling, fractionated laser treatments, and skin tightening treatments.
