Contrary to many popular statements about my beliefs, I do in fact think that in the face of monstrous tensions, demise, climate loss, war, and pain, a technobureaucratic solutionism is the way forward. Here's where an inflection emerges: I just don't think the way forward is interesting.
Forward-facing cartographies are civilising projects, world-shaping projects, neurotypicality-nourishing projects. They are about ensuring permanence, stretching the reach of mastery, and defining life in the narrow anthropocentric confines of a temporality that instrumentalizes time within convenient economic relations.
The problems that haunt us are the spirits of this project, the tensions of forward-facing choreographies. To address these times of monsters, we will need to move awkwardly. Less forward, more awkward. In the sites of loss, in the clearings of colonial construction, in the abjection of the civil, in the grief of the discarded, in the cracks.
A political project of a stranger generosity thrives in the abandoned, where the work isn't to save the excluded, but to travel alongside exclusion in its seeking.
The highway no longer leads to interesting places. It's time to wade in the water.

The times are changing, and new senses are required to be in generative response to the more-than-human dynamics afoot. One of the ways we are doing this as a learning cohort is to attempt an ambitious organizing of multiple communities around the world to host a trans-local concert of sorts, a gathering at the thresholds of new senses.
We are thinking together, in seditious monthly free-to-attend gatherings about how to convene carnivals around the world as sites of strange inquiry and experimentation. These monthly exercises are open to the alumni of We Will Dance with Mountains as well as members of the public.
The purpose of the series is to engage the public’s dreams and syncopated secretions that might offer cartographic possibilities, organizational intelligence, and resources for the building of the Vunja carnivals.
