❄️ Winter Safety Tips for Shoveling Snow By Jeff the Physio

Snow shoveling can be a great workout—but it can also lead to injuries if your body isn’t prepared. A quick warm-up and the right exercises can help protect your back, shoulders, and core before you head outside.
Here are three simple moves I recommend:

1️⃣ Pallof Press – Core Stability. This exercise trains your core to resist rotation, which is important when you’re lifting and tossing snow. Attach a band or cable at chest height. Stand sideways to the anchor and hold the handle at your chest. Press your arms straight out and resist the pull of the band. Hold briefly, then return to start

2️⃣ Single-Arm Rows – Upper Back Strength. Strong upper back muscles help support your shoulders and maintain good posture while shoveling. Use a cable or dumbbell. Pull your elbow back while keeping your chest tall. Focus on squeezing your shoulder blade toward your spine. Control the movement on the way down

3️⃣ Low-to-High Cable Rotation – Functional Power. This movement mimics the rotational motion used when lifting and tossing snow. Start with the cable low beside your hip. Rotate your body and pull the cable diagonally upward across your body. Keep your core engaged and move with control

✅ Pro Tip: Warm up for a few minutes before shoveling, keep the snow load small, and take breaks if you feel fatigued.
Stay safe, move well, and protect your back this winter! 💪❄️

Fix Your Posture with These 3 Simple Exercises 💪

Struggling with neck, shoulder, or upper-back tension? Poor posture could be the reason.

Jeff, our expert physiotherapist, is sharing his top 3 go-to exercises to improve posture and reduce daily aches:

✅ Chest Stretch – Opens up tight chest muscles and helps counter forward-rounded shoulders
✅ Chin Tucks – Strengthens deep neck muscles and improves head alignment
✅ Scapular Squeezes – Activates upper-back muscles to support better posture
Do these daily for just a few minutes and feel the difference!

Your spine will thank you 🙌
