For more than 27 years, Dr. Yu has dedicated his clinical career to the treatment of complex and degenerative eye diseases 👁 through Traditional Chinese Medicine 🌿(TCM). Throughout thousands of patient consultations, he has worked with individuals affected by Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), high myopia, glaucoma, macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, dry eye disease, and other chronic retinal conditions.

Over nearly three decades of clinical practice, Dr. Yu observed that meaningful improvement in vision cannot be achieved by treating the eyes in isolation. While modern medicine often focuses on the affected ocular tissues, Traditional Chinese Medicine views the eyes as an extension of the body’s internal health. According to TCM theory, the eyes are nourished by Qi, Blood, Essence (Jing), and the functional harmony of the Liver, Kidneys, Spleen, Heart, and the meridian network. When these systems become imbalanced, the eyes gradually lose their nourishment, circulation, and regenerative capacity.

Based on this philosophy and decades of clinical experience, Dr. Yu developed the Wellspring Vision Improvement Program (WVIP)—a comprehensive, personalized treatment system that addresses not only the eyes, but the entire body. WVIP integrates multiple therapeutic strategies that work together to improve circulation, restore internal balance, enhance tissue nourishment, and optimize the body’s natural healing potential. Every treatment plan is individually tailored according to each patient’s diagnosis, constitution, disease progression, and overall health.

The Eight Core Elements of WVIP

① Acupuncture
② Personalized Chinese Herbal Medicine
③ Food/Nutrition
④ Eye Exercises
⑤ Detoxification
⑥ Sleep and Rest
⑦ Stress Management
⑧ Physical Exercise

The Wellspring Vision Improvement Program reflects Dr. Yu’s belief that vision is not merely a function of the eyes, but a reflection of the body’s overall health and internal balance. By integrating these eight therapeutic pillars into one personalized treatment program, WVIP seeks to optimize the physiological conditions necessary for visual function, support long-term eye health, and improve patients’ overall quality of life. At Wellspring Clinic, we strive to restore the health of the entire person, because healthier bodies create healthier eyes.
