This weekend’s Multi-Channel Video Installation workshop VIVO Media Arts Centre with Nancy Lee was incredible! I learned so much over the two days with Nancy and got to reconnect with some media artist friends and make some new ones. I have so much archival footage from my travels abroad (including alllll the touching videos, iykyk) and from my past trips to Nunavut that I feel have been waiting for this moment where I now have the skills to turn it into installation art, something I’ve been dreaming of for years! Now to edit some more of it by September for when I get to go to Winnipeg and play with installing it in a gallery setting!!

Hi Everyone! I am offering an online Grant Writing for Beginners workshop on Mon Jun 15, 6-8PM PDT through my work with the Media Arts Alliance of the Pacific (MAAP). The workshop is catered towards media artists and filmmakers based in BC but lots of the information shared will be relevant to all grant writing. The fee to participate is by non-mandatory donation. This past weekend I was briefly back within Hupačasath and Tseshaht territory (a.k.a. Port Alberni) collecting the last of my possessions I had stored there, before heading to Duncan to shoot one of the four films I’m currently in production on. While there, I miraculously found time to hike down to the nearby river with my cinematographer and encountered an answered prayer right before my eyes.

The last time I had been down to the river (a few months prior) and several times before, I’d wished for some sort of bridge or set of stepping stones in order to easily cross the water & continue exploring the trails on the other side. I’m not sure how it occurred, but there is now a massive build up of logs where a smaller pile had been before, with one in particular acting as a makeshift bridge.

We had fun scrambling across and had enough daylight to hike the entire trail on the other side, something I’d wanted to do for over a year when I first moved to Port Alberni in January 2025.

It was a beautiful way to officially close the chapter of my time spent living there. I’m off to explore new paths now.

I am honoured to have my films, February Sixteenth Nineteen Forty-Seven and Anihšināpē Water Law included in the labdoc’s Study Day on the Environment and Moving Images, ÉCO_VIDÉO_4 alongside other incredible filmmakers on Friday November 14th.

The labdoc presents:

The labdoc’s annual study day, Éco_Vidéo, aims to foster collective reflection on what audiovisual media can produce with the living world by analyzing the relationships between moving images and the environment.

For the 2025 edition, the idea and practices of transmission will be central: visually telling the story of the land, creating a way to share what heritage is in order to include even young audiences—these will be the avenues that guide our discussions.

As part of Éco_Vidéo_4, the labdoc is partnering with NISKA at UQAM, the TREMPLIN program at the School of Media, the Montreal International Documentary Festival, and the National Film Board. With the participation of artists Joséphine Bacon, François Delisle, Jessica Miinguuaqtii, Laure Morali, Alanis Obomsawin, and Morgan Tams. In dialogue with members of the labdoc – Marjolaine Béland, Gil Chataigner, Naomie Décarie-Daigneault, Hervé Demers, Sophie Leblond, Viva Paci, Diane Poitras, Dishani Samarasinghe and Gilles Tassé – as well as with Mirna Abiad-Boyadjian, Prune Lieutier, Julien Ménabréaz and François Normandin.

The Sexual Shame Sharing Circles have been on hiatus for the past year as I took some time to process emotions on my own, travel, and begin a romantic relationship, which has triggered new layers of sexual shame! Grace Kim, who I was previously blessed to host the circles with, has since stepped away, and I will now be hosting alongside my partner, Dawson Murphy. 

Dawson is passionate about Truth and understands it is important in revealing how we feel about ourselves and others. He has experience leading and holding space for groups as a skydiving coach, and is committed to his own emotional and spiritual development. 

It will be interesting to bring everyone together within this new dynamic, which I will honestly admit, we are both nervous and excited about. Dawson and I have been processing a lot of emotions over the past eight months since we met, but sharing openly about our sexual shame within a group will surely bring up more necessary feelings to feel. We are diving right in and invite you to join us!

Each past Sexual Shame Sharing Circle has been deeply beautiful and emotional. The next one is Sunday July 20th from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Pacific Time on zoom. You are welcome to pay a donation amount of your choice for attending and to invite others who may wish to join. Gabriola Island friends! It’s the last chance to sign up for my 2-part workshop taking place Wednesday April 3rd & Saturday April 6th at the Gabriola Arts and Heritage Centre as part of the Isle of the Arts Festival 🎨

I’ll be guiding you through the process of journeying with and creating abstract self portraits of your facade self, hurt self, and ultimately your TRUE self underneath. Not gonna lie, the last time I guided these workshops it was both deeply heavy (in a healing way) and profound.

Looking forward to holding intentional creative space for you!!
