St. John Ambulance BC/Yukon

St. John Ambulance BC/Yukon For over 110 years, SJA has empowered safer communities across BC and the Yukon, through first aid training, emergency response and community services.

As Canada’s leading first aid and safety charity, St. John Ambulance remains committed to our history of caring for and saving lives. Building on over 900 years of tradition, St. John Ambulance partners with individuals and organizations to provide first aid, CPR, and AED training and safety products. As a self-funded charity, training and product proceeds support our community service programs, w

hich include the Medical First Responder, Therapy Dog, and Youth Program. In British Columbia and Yukon, we serve our communities through a network of 19 branches, where we train over 65,000 students each year in first aid and emergency response. Our 2000+ volunteers provide first aid to keep their communities safe at public events and during natural disasters, improve quality of life through community care for the vulnerable and lonely, and instill leadership and social skills for our youth.

Then vs. Now: Protecting Stanley Park 🌲✨

If you took a stroll through Vancouver’s Stanley Park in the summer of 1945, you might have spotted our volunteers under the willow trees at a canvas First Aid Post. During the final months of World War II, these field stations served a vital dual purpose: practicing Civil Defence readiness drills for home-front emergency preparedness while providing peace of mind to weekend park-goers.

Fast forward to 2026, and while our gear and uniforms have evolved from canvas tents to mobile bike patrols, our heart remains exactly the same! You’ll still find St. John Ambulance volunteer medical first responders actively patrolling Stanley Park today, ready to lend a hand wherever crowds gather.

For 115 years in British Columbia, our volunteers have been quiet guardians for the public. Generation after generation, their drive hasn't changed: stepping up to do what they can to keep our neighbors safe, healthy, and cared for.

💚 Help us continue this mission for generations to come. Support community health and safety across BC by making a gift today at sjaimpact.ca/gift-2026/ — and see how you can receive your very own 115 Year Commemorative Anniversary Pin as our thanks for keeping BC safe!

✈️ What does it take to pull a 60-tonne FedEx 757 cargo plane? A whole lot of teamwork, a shared focus, and a safe environment! 💪

A massive shoutout to the organizers of the Orbis Plane Pull for Sight for putting on an incredible event on June 7th in Vancouver, and for making participant safety a top priority.

We also want to send our deepest gratitude to our amazing St. John Ambulance (SJA) volunteers who were on-site providing first aid and peace of mind while teams hauled that massive plane across the tarmac! 🚑💚 It is so inspiring to see communities pull together (pun intended!) to have fun, challenge themselves, and raise critical funds to help end avoidable blindness.

Want to help keep our SJA Medical First Responder volunteers out in the community, boosting public safety at events across BC and the Yukon? Here’s how you can support their life-saving work:

✨ Donate: Support our volunteers directly at sjaimpact.ca

Ever wish first aid training would just come to you, instead of your team losing a whole day traveling across town? 🕒🚐

Between coordinating busy summer schedules and managing tight project deadlines, the last thing any manager wants to handle is the logistics of sending employees off-site for mandatory safety training.

If your team is due for first aid certification or recertification, you don't have to disrupt your entire work week. We bring the classroom directly to your workplace.

You provide the space and the team, and we bring the expertise.

Why decision-makers are booking private workplace training this summer:

✅Save Time & Logistics: Zero travel time, zero off-site coordination, and no managing dozens of individual registrations.

✅Minimize Disruption: Train your entire group together on a date that works perfectly around your summer roster and vacations.

✅Build Team Confidence: Employees learn hands-on, practical skills together in the very environment where they work every day.

✅Double the Impact: Because we are a charitable organization, your registration directly funds our volunteer Medical First Responders serving communities across BC and the Yukon.

Keep your workplace safe and compliant without sacrificing your calendar.

🗓️ Our summer private training dates are booking up quickly. Send us an email at [email protected] to lock in your session! Or call our Customer Care Team toll-free: 1.866.321.2651

When things go left on the court, you want someone like Ethan on your team. 🏀⚡

During a recent basketball game, Ethan’s best friend took a hard fall, hit his head, and started having a severe seizure. Panic could have easily taken over the whole gym, but Ethan stayed totally locked in.

Because of the skills he learned in his St. John Ambulance class, he stepped up to maintain spinal motion restriction, clear his friend’s airway, assist his breathing, and give a clutch handover to the paramedics when they arrived. Real main character energy right there.

In Ethan's own words: "I had never experienced any situation like this before but because of you I was ready and able to provide these critical interventions which I feel were life-saving to him."

💚Huge shoutout to Ethan for acting fast and being an absolute hero, and a massive W for our incredible instructor, Heather, for giving him the confidence and skills to handle it like a pro in the classroom. 👏

Emergencies don't wait for a convenient time, and anyone can be faced with a moment where they need to step up. Be the hero when things go wrong. Let’s keep the summer vibes safe - register for a first aid course today! sja.ca/en/summer-bcy

🌲 Calling all BC and Yukon Adventurers! 🏕️

Hiking and camping season is in full swing, which means we are in prime tick territory. Are you prepared if you or a trail buddy gets bitten?

⏰ TICK TOCK! When dealing with ticks, time is of the essence. The risk of contracting tick-borne illnesses, like Lyme disease, significantly increases the longer a tick remains attached (typically after feeding for 24 to 36 hours or more). Best practice? Remove it the second you spot it.

That’s exactly why having the right tools on hand is crucial. Our Tick Removal Kit is compact, easy to use, and designed to help you extract ticks safely and promptly.

Post-Bite Safety Checklist:

🪲 Monitor: Keep a close eye on your health for 30 days after a bite.
🪲 Watch for Symptoms: Look out for a fever, joint pain, flu-like symptoms, or the classic "bull's-eye" rash.
🪲 Consult a Pro: If you develop any of these symptoms, reach out to your healthcare provider right away.

✨ BE PREPARED PROMO! ✨ Right now, you can take 10% OFF all personal first aid kits (including our Tick Removal Kits) to ensure your pack is ready for the wild! Use promo code KIT10 at checkout. ⏳ Offer expires July 31st!
