Some days, you might simply feel tired of working so hard at recovery.

I understand that feeling.

There can be moments when you’re doing the work, challenging familiar patterns, feeling emotions you once avoided, and trying to choose differently—and you become exhausted.

In 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I talk about recovery fatigue and something I want you to remember: needing a break doesn’t have to mean abandoning your recovery. Rest can simply be rest.

This is also why I keep returning to compassion throughout the book. New ways of responding to yourself take practice. At first they can require conscious effort, but with repetition, those responses can begin to become new habits.

So on the days when healing feels heavy, perhaps the tool you need isn’t another push.

Perhaps you need permission to rest, care for yourself, lean on your support system, and return when you’re ready.

You are allowed to rest and still remain committed to yourself.

If you’d like more of the practical tools and compassionate reminders I used on my own journey, 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food is here for you to return to whenever you need it:

Have you ever known that something about your relationship with food needed to change… but had no idea where to begin?

That was one of the hardest parts for me.

I didn’t need more information telling me what I should or shouldn’t eat. I needed to understand my habits, my emotions, the voice behind my choices, and why changing familiar patterns could feel so uncomfortable.

That is what I wanted 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food to give you: practical places to begin.

Inside, I share tools for noticing habits that no longer serve you, journaling through difficult emotions, creating supportive boundaries, responding to setbacks with compassion, building a support system, and beginning to imagine goals for a life that isn’t centred around the disorder.

These aren’t tools for becoming perfect. They are tools you can return to while learning more about yourself and practicing a different way forward.

You don’t have to figure everything out today. You can begin with one small piece of understanding.

Which would help you most right now: understanding your patterns, becoming kinder to yourself, or learning how to begin again after a difficult day?

If you feel ready to explore these tools with me, 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food is here to accompany you:

Healing doesn’t have to happen in isolation.

For a long time, asking for help was something I resisted. I had learned to keep going on my own and believed there was something stronger about not needing anyone.

Recovery challenged that belief.

In 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I talk about building a support circle—people who can stand beside you as you practice new habits, face difficult emotions, and keep moving toward the life you want. I also explore why friends and family can remain friends and family, while trained professionals provide the kind of support they are equipped to give.

Connection doesn’t take away your strength. Sometimes reaching toward another person is one of the ways you practice it.

You are allowed to be supported while you find your way forward.

If my words resonate with where you are right now, 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food can gently accompany you with more of the tools and reflections that helped shape my own journey:

Not every thought deserves to become a rule.

For a long time, I knew what it was like to have an inner voice that constantly told me I wasn’t good enough.

When we hear that voice often enough, it can become difficult to separate its judgment from what we actually believe about ourselves.

One of the shifts I explore in 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food is learning to recognize negative self-talk and intentionally practice a different response. The book even invites you to create replacement thoughts that acknowledge your humanness while helping you move toward the person you want to be.

This takes practice. You may still hear the old criticism, but hearing it doesn’t mean you have to follow it.

Today, I hope you give yourself permission to speak to yourself with the same patience you would offer someone you deeply care about.

What if wanting more for yourself is already part of the change?

There was a time when even wanting something softer for my life felt uncomfortable. I had become so accustomed to pushing through, ignoring feelings, and believing I simply had to keep going.

But healing asked something different of me.

In 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I explore how meaningful change begins with wanting to let go of the patterns that have kept us stuck. It isn’t simply about willpower. It is about reaching a place where you can imagine—and begin choosing—a different way of living.

You don’t have to know exactly what that new life will look like today. You can begin by giving yourself permission to want more peace, more connection, and more room to simply be human.

What is one gentle thing you would like more of in your life?

I wrote this book for the moments when you know something needs to change, but you’re not quite sure how to begin.

Healing isn’t only about understanding what is happening. We also need ways to respond when old habits return, emotions feel uncomfortable, or that critical voice becomes loud.

Throughout 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I share tools you can actually practice: journaling, recognizing patterns and their triggers, learning from relapse, creating boundaries, building a support system, practicing self-compassion, and beginning to imagine goals for a life that is no longer centered around the disorder.

You’ll also find exercises and prompts that invite you to explore what is happening underneath your relationship with food and begin building different habits with greater awareness.

I don’t expect you to read these pages and suddenly have everything figured out. My hope is that you return to the tools whenever you need a little guidance, reassurance, or a reminder that change can be practiced one step at a time.

You are allowed to learn slowly, practice imperfectly, and keep choosing yourself along the way.

If you’d like my book beside you as you explore these tools, you’re warmly invited to find it here:

What if the voice you practiced listening to was your own?

For a long time, I knew what it was like to have a critical inner voice become so familiar that separating it from myself felt incredibly difficult.

Healing asked me to notice that voice instead of automatically following everything it told me.

That distinction matters. Awareness gives us a place to begin practicing a different response—one with more compassion, curiosity, and choice.

In 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I explore the critical voice that can become intertwined with a dysfunctional relationship with food, and the tools that can help us challenge negative self-talk and build a different relationship with ourselves.

You do not have to master this today. Each time you respond to yourself with greater kindness, you are practicing something new.

I can hear a critical thought without making it my truth.

If my book feels like the kind of companion you need on this journey, you’re warmly invited to explore it here:

One difficult moment does not mean you have failed.

I know how quickly an old pattern can bring shame with it. You may start thinking that all your progress has disappeared or that you should have handled things differently.

But healing was never meant to be a perfect performance.

Instead of punishing yourself, become curious. What was happening emotionally? What did you need? What could support you differently next time?

In 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I explore this shift: seeing relapse and difficult moments as opportunities to learn, adjust your tools, and practice responding to yourself with more compassion.

You are practicing a different relationship with yourself, and practice includes beginning again.

What would change if your next hard moment became something to learn from instead of something to punish yourself for?

What if wanting something different is enough to begin?

For a long time, I struggled with the idea that I was even allowed to want a softer, more peaceful life.

Change can feel frightening when familiar patterns have also felt safe. Even when those patterns are hurting us, stepping away from them means stepping toward something we haven’t experienced yet.

And that uncertainty can be powerful.

In 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I explore this in the nugget about wanting to change. Healing isn’t simply about willpower. There can be a deeper moment when you begin to recognize that you genuinely want something different—and give yourself permission to move toward it.

You don’t need to have your entire recovery mapped out today. Sometimes the beginning is simply acknowledging: I want more peace. I want more connection. I want a life with room for me beyond these old patterns.

You are allowed to want that gentler life.

If my words are meeting you at that beginning, 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food is there to walk alongside you with reflections, exercises, and tools for the journey.

Sometimes the harshest voice is the one we’ve practiced listening to for years.

I know how convincing that voice can become. It can turn a mistake into a judgment about who you are and make anything less than perfection feel unacceptable.

But you can learn another way of speaking to yourself.

In 7 Nuggets For Healing Your Relationship with Food, I explore how negative self-talk can keep harmful patterns alive—and how we can begin replacing those thoughts with something more compassionate and grounded. One of the tools I share is to question the critical story rather than automatically accepting it as truth.

This doesn’t mean pretending everything feels wonderful. It means allowing yourself to be human, to learn from what happens, and to keep building a relationship with yourself that isn’t based on punishment.

You deserve to hear your own voice with more kindness.
