🦻 New research on sudden hearing loss!

A recent study found that people with higher remnant cholesterol (RC) levels were less likely to recover after experiencing sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL).

While more research is needed, these findings add to the growing evidence that heart health and hearing health are closely connected.

If you experience a sudden loss of hearing in one or both ears, don't waitβ€”SSNHL is a medical emergency, and prompt assessment and treatment can improve the chances of recovery.

πŸ“ž Seek medical attention and our clinic right away if you notice a sudden change in your hearing.

We are honoured to announce that Salus Hearing & Tinnitus Centre is a Silver Sponsor of the 2026 After Breast Cancer Pink Diamond Gala. πŸ’—πŸ’Ž

This cause resonates with us both personally and professionally.
Breast cancer has touched our clinic founder Sabrina DeToma, Doctor of Audiology, personally through the loss of her mother shortly after she opened Salus. Professionally, we also recognize that certain cancer treatments may affect the auditory system, and that changes in hearing or the onset of tinnitus should not be overlooked.

Our goal is to support women after breast cancer while expanding awareness of the possible hearing and tinnitus effects that may accompany cancer treatment.

The good news? Early treatment can help you stay connected to the conversations, laughter, and moments that matter most.

"Never mind" can become more common than people realize.

Sometimes it's easier to move on than repeat something again - but over time, it can affect how much we share and stay engaged in conversations.

Audiologists understand how hearing changes can impact communication between partners, family and friends.

πŸ‘‚ If this sounds familiar, it may be time for a hearing assessment.

🎢 "A Little Less Conversation..."..shouldn't be because you can't hear it. πŸ‘‚

Life is full of conversations worth hearing. If you've noticed yourself asking "What?" more often, avoiding noisy restaurants, or relying on subtitles, your hearing may be trying to tell you something.

The earlier hearing loss is identified, the more options you have to stay connected to the people and moments you love.

πŸ”Š Does AI always improve hearing in noise?
A recent study found that hearing aids designed to preserve natural speech cues performed as well asβ€”or better thanβ€”most AI-powered alternatives in challenging listening environments.
The takeaway: Better hearing outcomes aren't determined by AI alone. Preserving natural sound quality and speech cues remains critical for speech understanding, listening comfort, and real-world communication.

Ever leave a conversation feeling drained? πŸ‘‚

Listening shouldn't feel exhausting. When hearing becomes more difficult, your brain has to work harder to fill in the sounds you miss. This extra listening effort can lead to mental fatigue, making it harder to focus, stay engaged, and enjoy conversations.

Hearing well supports not only communication but also cognitive health and overall well-being. If conversations are becoming more tiring than they used to be, a hearing assessment can help identify what's going on.

At Salus Hearing & Tinnitus Centre, we're here to help you hear with confidence and stay connected to the people and moments that matter most.
