Allergies don’t always look like constant sneezing, itchy eyes or a runny nose.

In my practice, I often remind patients that inflammation in the nose and sinuses can affect how you feel in less obvious ways. Ongoing nasal congestion can interfere with sleep and contribute to fatigue. Pressure or dysfunction involving the ears may sometimes be associated with dizziness or a feeling of imbalance. Persistent post-nasal drip, mouth breathing or dryness can also contribute to bad breath.

That said, fatigue, dizziness and persistent bad breath can have many different causes, so I wouldn’t assume allergies are automatically to blame.

If these symptoms are ongoing, especially alongside congestion, sinus pressure, post-nasal drip or other allergy symptoms, it may be worth having them properly assessed. My goal is always to understand what’s actually causing your symptoms so we can treat the right problem.

If you’d like to see me at North ENT Clinic in Vaughan, you can ask your family doctor or nurse practitioner for a referral. Once we receive it, our team can help arrange an appointment. We see patients of all ages from Vaughan and across the GTA.

A little love for otolaryngology - otherwise known as ENT. 👂👃🗣️

It may not roll off the tongue quite as easily as “cardio” or “neuro,” which is probably why most people simply know us as ear, nose and throat specialists.

But ENT care actually touches a surprisingly large part of your health. We assess and treat concerns involving the ears, hearing and balance, the nose and sinuses, the throat and voice, tonsils, swallowing, breathing and other structures of the head and neck.

And while you may never find yourself casually saying, “I need an otolaryngologist,” there’s a good chance that at some point in your life, you or someone in your family will need ENT care… whether it’s for recurring ear infections, chronic sinus symptoms, tonsil concerns, hearing changes, nasal obstruction or a persistent voice or throat issue.

So yes, someone has to hold it down in otolaryngology. And I’m very happy to be one of them.

Request a referral to see me through your GP or NP.

As the weather cools and indoor heating comes on, the air inside our homes can become noticeably drier. This may leave the lining of the nose and throat feeling irritated and can contribute to nasal dryness, congestion or nosebleeds.

A humidifier can add moisture back into the air and help keep your nose, sinuses and throat more comfortable. The key word, however, is clean. Humidifiers should be cleaned regularly and used according to the manufacturer’s instructions, as a poorly maintained unit can circulate mould, bacteria and other irritants.

If dryness, congestion, nosebleeds or throat irritation persist despite your best efforts at home, it may be time for an assessment. I see patients of all ages from across the GTA at North ENT Clinic in Vaughan. A referral from your family doctor or nurse practitioner is required.

If your ear feels blocked, full or congested, reaching for a Q-tip might seem like the obvious solution. But that uncomfortable feeling isn’t always caused by earwax.

Ear fullness can have several causes, including fluid behind the eardrum, inflammation, Eustachian tube dysfunction or an ear infection. And when an infection is the issue, a Q-tip won’t fix the underlying problem. In fact, inserting anything into the ear canal can sometimes irritate the ear or push wax further inward.

As an ENT, I can properly examine the ear and determine what’s actually causing that pressure or congestion so we can treat the source rather than simply trying to clear the sensation.

If persistent ear pressure, pain, changes in hearing or recurring ear infections are bothering you, it may be time for an assessment.

The best treatment starts with the right diagnosis.

In ENT, many symptoms can have more than one possible cause. A sore throat, blocked nose, hearing change, dizziness or persistent hoarseness may seem straightforward, but getting to the root of the issue often requires a careful exam and the right diagnostic tools.

My goal is always to understand the full picture before recommending treatment. That means listening closely to your symptoms, examining the areas involved and using specialized equipment when needed so we can make an informed plan.

If you’ve been referred for an ENT assessment, I see patients of all ages at North ENT Clinic in Vaughan. A referral from your family doctor or nurse practitioner is required to book an appointment.

Make your health a priority before it becomes urgent.

It’s easy to put off appointments, ignore symptoms or tell yourself you’ll deal with something later. But paying attention to changes in your body and seeking care when something doesn’t feel right can make a meaningful difference.

Taking care of your health doesn’t always require a major change. Sometimes it starts with simply listening to your body and following up when something feels off.

North ENT Clinic in Vaughan provides specialized ear, nose and throat care for patients of all ages. To our physician for an assessment, you’ll need a referral from your family doctor or nurse practitioner.
