Points North Family Health Team/Machin Medical Group We are a primary care organization located in Vermilion Bay Servicing the Municipality of Machin. The Points North Family Health Team is patient centred.

Patients will have access to a number of primary health care services from a variety of team members, including a family doctor. The team approach means service is relatively easy to access on a timely basis. Patients will be followed by a doctor or nurse practitioner, but depending on their clinical needs, they may be referred to other health care professionals within the Family Health Team. Pati

ents may also self-refer to a Social Service worker. The team approach often allows for more time and discussion of health concerns than might be possible in a more traditional medical office setting. Also, patients will have access to additional services such as hypertension management programs, Diabetes and smoking cessation counseling.

Colon Cancer Screening (FIT) - A simple, at-home stool (p**p) test that checks for hidden blood, which may be a sign of colon cancer. It's easy, non-invasive, and recommended every 2 years for eligible people.

Colonoscopy - A procedure where a doctor examines the colon using a camera to look for cancer. It's usually done if the FIT is abnormal or if there are other risk factors.
