Being told you’re “too sensitive” can make it harder to trust your own reactions.
While not every disagreement points to an unhealthy dynamic, recurring patterns of dismissed feelings, ignored boundaries, or confusion are worth exploring.
You can make space for your feelings without immediately jumping to conclusions about someone else.

Your feelings are worth understanding, not automatically dismissing. 🤍

If this resonates with you and you’d like support in exploring these patterns, you can learn more about counseling services through the link in our bio.

Family relationships can hold a lot of emotions at once.

You might feel grateful for the people in your life while also feeling frustrated with them sometimes. You might feel close to someone and still need space. You might cherish certain memories while recognizing that other experiences have been difficult.

Having mixed feelings doesn’t mean something is wrong with you or with the relationship.

Sometimes, we put pressure on ourselves to make our feelings make sense. But emotions don’t always fit neatly into categories. More than one feeling can exist at the same time.

You can appreciate the good while acknowledging the difficult. You don’t have to simplify what you feel.

A gentle reminder: your feelings are allowed to be complicated, too. 🤍

And if you’ve been carrying some of these feelings quietly, you don’t have to make sense of them all on your own. Sometimes, having a space to talk things through can help us understand ourselves and our relationships a little more clearly.

Feeling safe with someone can mean more than simply feeling comfortable around them.

It can mean feeling like you don't have to constantly explain your reactions, defend your feelings, or worry about being misunderstood.

Healthy relationships leave room for honesty, boundaries, difficult emotions, and being human.

If this resonated with you, save it for a reminder later or share it with someone who makes you feel safe. 🤍

And if you're looking for support in understanding your relationships and patterns, learn more about our counselling services through the link in our bio.

🍂 Welcome, Fall. A Season for New Beginnings.🍂

As the days become shorter and routines begin to settle, many people notice changes in their mental health. The transition into fall can bring increased stress, anxiety, burnout, grief, or feelings of loneliness as summer activities wind down and work, school, and family responsibilities pick up.

The good news? Fall is one of the best times to begin counselling.

Starting therapy now gives you the opportunity to build coping strategies, strengthen emotional resilience, and establish support before the busy holiday season arrives. Our team at Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective has availability this fall, and it's the perfect time to secure a consistent appointment that works with your schedule. Our associate counsellors are accepting new clients and are here to provide compassionate, evidence-based support tailored to your unique needs.

🍁 Your mental health deserves the same attention as your physical health.
🍁 Small steps today can create meaningful change tomorrow.
🍁 Don't wait until you're overwhelmed to reach out.

Book your fall counselling appointment today and give yourself the support you deserve this season.

Guilt can be useful when it points us toward something we genuinely want to repair or take responsibility for.

But sometimes guilt shows up simply because we're doing something we're not used to doing, especially when we're setting boundaries or prioritizing our own needs.

Feeling guilty doesn't automatically mean you've made the wrong choice.

The next time guilt comes up, try pausing before acting on it and asking: “What is this feeling actually telling me?”

Sometimes it points to something we need to repair. Other times, it is simply the discomfort of doing something new.

If you'd like support in understanding your emotions and patterns with more compassion, you're warmly invited to visit the link in bio.

Meet Nick — Practicum Student Counsellor at Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective

We’re excited to welcome Nick to our counselling team! Nick brings years of experience working with children, youth, parents, and families, along with a warm, relaxed, and down-to-earth approach to counselling.

Nick works with children, youth, and adults, supporting concerns including:

Anxiety & emotional regulation
ADHD & autism
School avoidance and school-related challenges
Relationships, communication & boundaries
Parenting & family dynamics
Couples counselling
Depression & life challenges

His approach draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution-focused and skills-based therapies, mindfulness, play-informed therapy, and Gottman-informed couples approaches. Nick takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach and works with each client to understand what is happening beneath the surface and identify strategies that fit their individual needs.

Why work with a practicum student?

Working with a practicum student can be a great opportunity to access thoughtful, evidence-informed counselling at a reduced rate while supporting the development of the next generation of counsellors. Nick is completing his clinical training under ongoing supervision, allowing him to provide counselling while continuing to develop his skills and knowledge with the support of an experienced clinical supervisor.

Most importantly, Nick is committed to creating a space where clients feel comfortable, respected, understood, and able to be themselves.

In-person appointments are available in Vernon, with **online counselling also available throughout British Columbia**.

If you or your child could use some support, we’d love to connect you with Nick. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, big emotions, relationship challenges, school avoidance, or simply feeling stuck, counselling can be a place to start moving forward.
