In Ghana, some families choose to honour their loved ones by placing them in 'Fantasy Coffins.' These coffins are handcrafted by artists who design the coffins based on the family's wishes for their loved one. The designs are typically based on the the career of the person who passed away, their interests or their aspirations. For example, someone who loved to travel or had dreams of travelling may have a plane shaped casket, a fisherman may have a fish casket, etc. The array of designs, and the craftsmanship are truly incredible.

A super cool photo via the Vernon Archives! Campbell and Winter Funeral Chapel was built in Vernon in 1943 by William George Winter and Douglas Campbell. The funeral home was unique from others in the area because it had its own chapel attached to the funeral parlour. This location later became 'Vernon Funeral Home' which was operated continuously until 2023 when the building was sold, then demolished. Vernon Funeral Home is now operated out of our Pleasant Valley location by the City Cemetery.

We recently had the privilege of supporting NOHS - North Okanagan Hospice Society at the Hike for Hospice event at Kal Lake Park! Pictured below is our manager, Kathy who was there to hand out water and to show support for Hospice!
